Park senior Shauna Miller has been selected as the school’s Athena Award winner for 2021.
The St. Paul Area Athena Award committee honors the outstanding senior female athletes from over forty area high schools each year.
Shauna is a three-sport standout and was named captain in all three of her sports. She was a two-year letter winner in soccer, earning All-Conference Honorable Mention honors her senior year as the team’s goalkeeper. She earned five letters in hockey and was named All-Conference as a senior. Ms. Miller will end up being a three-year letter winner and starter in lacrosse and was sixth on the team in goals scored in just her second year playing as a sophomore.
Shauna has a “B” average and is involved in Link Crew, Leaders of the Pack, Pack of Friends, and Empower Leadership Academy at the school. She also volunteers with youth sports camps and clinics, Special Olympics, Feed My Starving Children, and the Dorothy Day Outreach. She will attend Saint Benedict’s University next fall to play hockey and study business and psychology.
Past winners of this award at Park include Marie Brookins, Saren Croker, Ally Gorres, Annie Williams, Anna Keys, Larissa Lurken, Allie Morse, and Jackie Voigt, as well as current Park staff members Ashley (Homan) Bailey and Kate Schwartz. Shauna will receive her award at the 27th Annual St. Paul Area Athena Award luncheon on April 21st at the Vadnais Heights Commons.
