COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. – Approximately 40 Soldiers from the 204th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) based in Cottage Grove, returned to Minnesota Wednesday, June 11 following a 10 month deployment to the Middle East.
“We are extremely proud of the exceptional Soldiers of the 204th Medical Company Area Support who excelled in their Mission in the Middle East,” said Army Col. Joel Stamp, brigade commander for the 347th Regional Support Group. “The accomplishments of this formation are many and have established a higher standard for medical care for our service members and our allies while deployed. This would not have been attained, had it not been for their training preparation, military professionalism, and the enduring support of their families, employers, and communities while deployed.”
The 204th MCAS deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), providing Role 2 care across three countries in the Middle East. They ensured that advanced trauma management and emergency medical treatment services were readily available, increasing overall medical care. Their knowledge and expertise allowed for 1,846 patients, and 30 medical evacuations from theater.
During the deployment, Soldiers of the 204th MCAS received 11 Bronze Star Medal nominations for heroic and meritorious service while supporting CJTF-OIR. The Bronze Star Medal is the fourth highest individual military award that a service member can receive, and recognizes acts of heroism, outstanding achievement or meritorious service in a combat zone.
