Roslyn Sara McMurray, 44, Newport, was charged in Dakota County on March 22 with felony simple robbery and misdemeanor assault in the fifth degree inflict or attempt bodily harm.
On March 17, Burnsville Police received a report of robbery in progress at a store located in Burnsville. When officers arrived, they observed a female, McMurray, being held down by two individuals. According to the complaint, eyewitnesses on the scene stated they watched as McMurray walked around the parking lot for 20 minutes before attempting to open door handles on multiple vehicles located in the store parking lot. Then McMurray approached a driver who was exiting her vehicle, grabbed onto her and took her property. The driver quickly ran into the store. McMurray got into the vehicle and tried to leave but eyewitnesses approached the vehicle and removed her from the driver’s seat. She was held down until law enforcement arrived.
The driver of the vehicle stated McMurray shook her back and forth, and said, “Give me your keys, give me your phone, give me everything you have.” The driver handed over her cellphone, keys, and fanny pack before running into the store.
McMurray claimed to the police that she was having breathing problems and was transported to a hospital. She was released the next day and a KOPS alert was issued for her arrest. McMurray reached out to police shortly after asking for her property back. She was told to turn herself in, which she refused. She was later arrested at her home and booked into Dakota County Jail.
