With a $373 million capital investment and 1,800 jobs expected out of the deal, the Cottage Grove Logistics Park is officially under construction, formal groundbreaking taking place Thursday May 26 in the city’s south business park.
All told, NorthPoint Development and its Logistics Park is at the forefront of big expectations for the area. All of which leads to an otherwise natural question: who, and what, is NorthPoint?
It turns out there’s a website for that.
Tucked away in cyberspace at www.beyondthecontract. com, the details on NorthPoint Development and its many projects including but not limited to Cottage Grove, can be found.
In the first place, Cottage Grove is the second Minnesota community to welcome NorthPoint, the firm also owning a property at 345 Industrial Boulevard in Minneapolis.
With Cottage Grove due to host a logistics park in multi-phase construction, NorthPoint is a family of 10 companies “with an emphasis on factory-to-front-door model,” its website states.

situation, put people first, and maintain financial discipline. Its purpose as stated is to empower power and enhance lives, while their firm “serves as a platform to help team members grow, achieve their personal goals, and positively impact the lives of everyone we interact with,” the firm states.
Including in the NorthPoint family of companies, meanwhile, are those related to industrial, multi-family, logistics, architecture, civil engineering, 3PL warehousing, brokerage services, self-storage, and a warehousing platform.
Active in over 24 states with nine office locations across the United States, the commercial real estate developer invites visitors to browse its properties. So what’s in the works for 100th Avenue South?
Glad you asked. Billed as Cottage Grove Building 1, the soon coming new construction at 7601 100th Street South will host a 282,828 square foot building, with 282,828 square feet of same available.
The building to be built in 2022 will have 32 dock positions, two drive-in docks, 306 car stalls, and ESFR Sprinkler System, 76 trailer stalls, and a clear height of 36 feet.
That’s building one. For building two at 7701 100th Street South, things get bigger.
Built in 2022 with all 492,827 square feet of space available, 7701 100th Street South will have 44 dock positions, four drive-in docks, 236 car stalls, an ESFR Sprinkler System, 138 Trailer stalls, and a clear height of 40 feet, four feet more than building one.
Together these two buildings will make up the present Cottage Grove Logistics Park with interested parties directed to contact Matt Oelschlager at 612-532-4747.
“Capital goes where capital is welcome and we have definitely been welcomed,” NorthPoint Development Chief Marketing Officer Brent Miles said, the city administration also excited for the coming logistics park.
“I am so proud of what this project means for our community,” Cottage Grove Mayor Myron Bailey said

U.S. Representative Angie Craig spoke on the importance of the public and private sectors having a great working partnership to grow the communities they serve. That partnership works best when all levels of government, the Federal, State and Local branches work hand in hand with private companies to bring businesses and jobs to communities.Photo by Bruce Karnick
