It’s time to reveal the lives of canines at Shepard Farm with “Our Wild Neighbors: Call of the Canines,” on Friday, July 14, from 6:30–7:15 p.m.
According to Rosie Johnson, Dodge Nature Center Communications Associate, there will be four kinds of Minnesota wild dogs explored at this event: wolves, red foxes, gray foxes, and coyotes. Johnson assures there will be no live animals present, but Dodge Nature Center Naturalist Teresa Root, who is leading the program, will be bringing various animal pelts for people to touch and see. There will also be information about the behaviors, diets, and adaptations that make wolves, coyotes, and foxes so interesting.
A picnic blanket or lawn chair is advised for this event. Participants will meet by the pavilion at Dodge’s Shepard Farm property in Cottage Grove.
Johnson added, “People are welcome to come earlier and stay after to walk the grounds and trails!”
This program, explained Johnson, was created by Root last year and has become a very popular event at Shepard Farm. Pre-registration is required. Registration typically closes the day before the program at 12 p.m. It is free to the public for ages 5+.
