Park High head boys' basketball coach Mike Weah is the latest veteran Wolfpack head coach who won’t be returning to the Cottage Grove sidelines this school year.
Weah resigned his position earlier this summer, said Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel.
He joins longtime Park High softball coach Bob Loshek and girls and boys swim and dive coach Amanda Johnson, both of whom resigned prior to the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Former Park boys head hockey and golf coach Jay Moser resigned after directing the Wolfpack for 17 years following the 2022-23 school year.
The search for a new boys' basketball coach is underway, Kuemmel said.
Weah joined Park in 2015, beginning as the ninth-grade head coach then taking over the junior varsity duties in 2016. He was named head coach in 2017, succeeding Ed Leslie.
Weah’s best season at Park came in 2021-22. With all-state senior forward Pharrell Payne leading the way, Park went 20-9 that season, finishing second in the Suburban East Conference and advanced to the Section 3AAAA Championship.
Park was 13-14 last season and tied for third in the SEC with an 11-7 record. Weah’s overall coaching record in seven seasons at Park was 74-107.
