Park boys first, girls second in Matt Maher meet

Park’s runners raced to victories in a variety of races in the annual Matt Maher Invitational Thursday, while the Wolfpack boys and girls dominated the throws and jumping events, continuing a season-long trend.

Park’s boys won their half of the team meet with 301 points; Burnsville was second with 237 and East Ridge third with 65.

On the girls' side, it was Burnsville winning with 232.66, Park was second with 186, Woodbury third with 94.33 and East Ridge fourth with 69.

Park’s Zoey-Bammert-Mueller scored a double win in the throws, finishing first in both the shot out (31-07) and the discus (99-02). School record holding senior Rainna Jameson went 5-2 to win the high jump and 33-00.in the triple jump for another first.

Malaya Ramirez won the 800 in a personal record of 2:29.20. Jana Hafiz won the 3,200 in 13:45.08.

Park’s 4x100 relay team of Elizabeth Kamande, Mallorie Yang, Madeline Finstad and Kylee Nickle won in a time of 52.71.

Then in the boys' events, Dominic Jenkins took first in the 400 in 53.31 and Kroix Pearson was a close second in 53.37. Henry Joa (2:05.79) and Eli Firchau (2:06.25) went -2 in the 800.
The 4x400 relay team of Firchau, Joa, Benjamin Paulsen and Miles Kaiser won in a time of 3:47.80.

In the throws Park’s Aidan Boche had a PR in the discus with a throw of 135-0 and threw 41-06 in the shit out, winning both events.

Hazim King and O’neal Attisso went 1-2 in the high school, both clearing 5-10. Bryan Wright won the long jump with a PR of 19-3 and was second in the triple jump at 41-08.

Girls events

Kamande was third in the 100 (13,89) and Nevaeh Durham fifth (14.07). Burham was third in the 200 (29.50), Leilani Barcenas eighth (30.28) and Lillie Finstad (30.30). Kalin Randrup was third in the 400 (1:04.34). Esme Edlund took second in the 800 (2:39.94) and Alexandra Cuellar was eighth (3:05.32). Ali Devin finished second in the 1,600 meters in 66:21.69.

Sharon Oni was second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.28) and third in the 300 hurdles (55.15). Elizabeth Ayala was third inn the 100 (19.91) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (1:03:47). Hailey Garcia finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (21.45).

The 4x200 relay team of Finstad, Kamande, Oni and Nickle finished second in 1:54.04. in the 4x400 it was Caroline Faust, Randrup, Devine and Ramere with a second-place finish in 4:34.35.

After Bammert-Mueller’s win the shot, Park placed three more in the top 10: 8, Marina Patrick (23-08), 9, Ellanor Boche (22-06.75) and 10th Kalkidan Fuge (21-11). Alayna Luu was second in the discus (90-03), Fuge sixth (66-05), Boche eighth (65-05) and Marlina Patrick ninth (48-04).

Jocelyn Meulemans tied for second in the pole vault, clearing 7-0. Kylie Bender and Ashlyn Mullen tied for fourth (6-6).

Boys events

Park’s runners went two through five and then seven through 11 in the 100, led by Alexander Djadoo who clocked a 12.05. Olumide Aluko was third (12.08), Travelle Waller fourth (12.12) and Miskir Esayas fifth (12.14). Esayas led Park in the 200 with a 24.23 finish, in sixth place. Jacon Chipman was seventh (24.27), Jayveon Wade eighth (24.60), Olumide Aluko ninth (2.466). Dylan Davis was fourth in the 400 (57.07) and Miles Kaiser seventh (57.69). Samuel Craig was sixth in the 800 (2:26.56).

Paulsen was second in the 1,600-meter run (5:04.29), Dylan Renelt fifth (5:12.70), Gavin Stauffer sixth (5:14.17) and Will Mann seventh (5:15.53).

Donovan Sheak was second in the 110-meter hurdles (19.89) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (48.39). Adebare (goodness) was fourth in the 110 hurdles (22.59) and sixth in the 300 (52.51).

Park was third in the 4x100 relay (Ayden Jones, Ricardo Santos, Ian Yang, Tyson Jenkins), second in the 4x200 (Jacob Chipman, Esayas, Jenkins, Pearson) and won the 4x400.

As noted, Park dominated the throws. Following Boche’s twin wins, Charles Blumberg was fourth in the shot (34-08.5) and sixth in the discus (92-8). Lance Hayes finished first in the shot (34-06) and was second in the discus (108-2). Avery Junior was eighth in the shot (32-01) and third in the discus (98-09).

Samuel Paulsen had an interesting combo, finishing second in the pole vault (7-0) and seventh in the shot put (32-04).

Daniel Boesch and O’neal Attisso tied for third in the long jump at 18-7. Jayveon Wade was fifth in the long jump (18-2). Kaleb Miftah and Jacob Chipman tied for sixth in the high jump (5-4). Mistah finished third in the triple jump (40-10) and Attisso was fourth (37-6).
