After back-to-back wins against Woodbury and Irondale, the Park Wolfpack found the going tougher against visiting White Bear Lake Saturday.

The Bears skated to a 4-0 win at Cottage Grove Ice Arena. After a scoreless first period, White Bear Lake exploded for three goals in the second to take command of the game.

Park slipped to 4-8 on the season and stands eighth in the Suburban East Conference.

White Bear Lake is 11-2-1 and in second place in the SEC, one game back of league leading Cretin-Derham Hall.

Park came into the contest with two straight wins, edging Woodbury 4-3 and blanking Irondale 3-0, the team’s first shutout of the season.

But White Bear Lake proved a much tougher obstacle to hurdle.

“We’ve been playing well,” said Park head coach Jay Moser. “The last four or five games we have played really well and we’re not going to win them all. They’re (the Bears) a pretty good team and when a good team works hard like they did the second period, we’re going to have a tough time. So we have to do whatever we can to try and minimize their ability to generate momentum and we didn’t do that in the second period.

“But overall we competed, we didn’t give up when we got down and that’s what is the most important lesson for these guys,” Moser added. “Keep competing and don’t give up and don’t get down.”

The Bears skated fast and hard and nearly doubled up the offense on the Wolfpack Saturday, outshooting Park 36 to 20.

Park hosts a pair of rivalry games this week, meeting East Ridge (5-7) Thursday and Woodbury (4-8) on Saturday, both games at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
