Park’s young boys’ tennis team was blanked by visiting Tartan Monday, May 10, at home.
Tartan won the match 7-0, but Park head coach Tony Townsend wasn’t displeased with how his players fared.
Park sophomore Anthony Pomerleau dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles.
“He’s been playing some great tennis the last three matches,” Townsend said. “He battled and played well, playing long points. He’s improving every match.”
Wolfpack freshman Caleb Swegert also lost, 6-0, 6-1.
“Caleb had a difficult time handling this players pace,” said Townsend. “He didn’t allow Caleb to play his pattern.”
Park hosts Simley Wednesday, May 12, and then wraps up the regular season Tuesday, May 18, at home against Irondale.
“We’re learning,” Townsend said. “The big thing is we’re talking about the movement and the energy level. I’d like to see the energy level to improve a little bit. I want us to move quicker. That will help us going forward. We knew it was going to be this way. But the players are showing continued improvement and they keep working hard.
