Park's boys' hockey team fell to host Duluth Denfield 4-2 in the finals of the Heritage Holiday Classic Saturday afternoon.
Park reached the tournament finals with wins over Apple Valley/Burnsville and Superior on Thursday and Friday.
Playing at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center, Denfield took a 2-0 lead early in the second period. Park’s Brady Siemer scored on a short-handed goal to make it a 2-1 game heading into the third.
Siemer scored again at 9:24 of the third to tie the game at 2-all. But Denfield pushed across two more goals in the rest of the period to take the victory.
Aidan Miller stopped 22 of 25 shots on goal for the Wolfpack.
Park (7-3, 2-1) returns to Suburban East Conference hockey with a game at Roseville (7-4, 2-2) Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. The Wolfpack then host Woodbury (3-6, 2-3) Saturday, Jan. 4, at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting at 3 p.m.
Park 5, Superior 1
The Wolfpack rolled to their second straight 5-1 victory in the Heritage Hockey Classic Friday with a win over Superior.
Park scored once in the first period, none in the second, and then four straight in the third to take a 5-0 lead at 15:21 in the third.
Owen Corkish scored two goals to lead Park. Caden Schwartz, Gavin Moss and Brady Siemer also put the puck in the back of the net. Schwartz and Luke Dahlstrom each had two assists in the win over the Spartans.
Park 5, Apple Valley/Burnsville 1
Five different Park players scored in a 5-1 victory over Apple Valley/Burnsville in the first round of the Heritage Hockey Classic in Duluth Thursday.
Owen Corkish, Gavin Sand, Malachi McMorrow, Nick Bailey and Gavin Moss each scored for the Wolfpack. Max Kaplan and Quintin Wilhelmy each had two assists for Park. Hank Voss got the win in the net, stopping 16 of 17 shots.
Park led 2-0 after one period, 3-1 after two and then closed it out with a 2-0 win in the third period.
