Visiting Stillwater (3-1, 5-1) controlled the game from start to finish in a 61-21 over the host Park Wolfpack in Suburban East Conference girls' basketball Friday.

The Ponies led 41-9 at the half and both teams substituted liberally in the second half.

Tori Henderson and Mesa Jameson each scored eight points to pace Park.

“Any team shooting 50 percent on a night is going to be tough to beat,” said Park head coach Stephanie Tolkinen. “And I think that we just – we had some good looks and they just didn’t drop. We were right at the rim. We had layups that didn’t go in. We had (shots) in the paint, they might have been contested but they’re shots that normally go in with us. I think we had looks that would have at least made the score look a little bit better.

“I think the kids competed and they kept their heads up all night long,” Tolkinen added. “They came out in the second half and fought a little bit even harder. They really tried to make it a bit of a game. We challenged the kids to compete and I think they did compete.”

Cretin-Derham Hall 61, Park 50

After opening the season with our lopsided losses, the Park Wolfpack is getting closer.

Park fell to host Cretin-Derham Hall Tuesday, losing 61-50. That 11-point defeat was a step in the right direction or the Wolfpack who came in being beaten by 25 points a game.

Cretin led 32-27 at the half.

Tori Henderson’s 15 points led Park. Mesa Jameson added 11 and Hailey Kieffer 10.

Cretin improved to 3-0 in the conference and 4-1 overall.

Park (0-4, 0-6) hosts Bloomington Jefferson (1-5) Thursday, with a rare 5:30 p.m. start. The game leads off a girls/boys' basketball doubleheader.
