This one was so close to a Park win it hurt.
Park just couldn’t get the puck in the back of the net in the final minutes of overtime, missing two passes across the front of the goal and then not connecting on a point-blank chance in the final seconds that looked like it might have gone in but was waved off.
The end result was a hard-to-swallow 2-2 tie against visiting St. Paul/Two Rivers Friday at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
“It’s got to bounce left instead of bouncing right,” Park coach Bay Shock said of the final score attempt. "It’s kind of how we play, we had a ton of shots, got to score some goals and you know that puck bounces over the shoulder, I think it’s on edge and it goes to the right instead of rolling in the net. Just, but fun. I mean that was fun.”
Freshman center Stella Daly gave Park a 1-0 lead in the first period on an unassisted even strength goal. But St. Paul/Two Rivers answered with two goals in the second to take a 2-1 lead.
Daly then scored again at the 11:13 mark of the second period to know the game at 2-all and that’s where ti stood the rest of the night. Ava Taschner earned an assist on Daly’s second goal.
Park doubled the offense on St. Paul/Two Rivers, outshooting the visitors 39-19.
“You know when we forecheck, we’re good,” said Shock. “We struggle a little bit in our D zone but when our girls are going they can skate. So hopefully you know this carries over. We’ve got two games left and then playoffs.”
Goalie Alayna Adamez stopped 17 of 19 shots for an .895 success rate in the net.

Addie Corkish and Natalie Post had assists on the play. The Rangers closed out the scoring with another third-period goal.
