Junior guard Tea Alveranga’s 23 points led the way as Park’s girls opened the 2025-26 basketball season in a big way Tuesday, scoring a whomping 65-34 decision from host Simley in a non-conference match at Inver Grove Heights.
Junior forward Olivia Czarnota had 13 points for Park, Raimee Ashfaq 11, Graycie Smith 7, Mariah Nasby 6 and Ramsey Nelson 5.
Ashfaq and Czarnota had 6 rebounds each. Alveranga was 7-for-7 at the free throw line.
“I was really happy with the energy the girls played with throughout the game,” said Park head coach Stephanie Tolkinen. “We were able to get some good looks from our offense and create some scoring opportunities from our defense as well. The girls did a nice job of playing together and creating scoring opportunities for each other. It was good to see what we are doing well and what we need to continue to work on.”
Park (1-0) hosts Eagan (2-1) Thursday and Woodbury (0-2) Friday, both games starting at 7 p.m. Friday’s night’s game is CGAA night.
