Host Park edged visiting Roseville on the vault, balance beam and floor exercise to score a team win Thursday, Feb. 4, in girls’ gymnastics.

In just their second meet of the season, the Wolfpack scored a 127.675 to 126.600 team victory.

It was close in every event. Park outscored Roseville 33.85 to 33.45 on vault, won beam 30.125 to 30.100 and took floor 33.675 to 32.325. Roseville finished narrowly on top on the uneven bars 30.725 to 30.025.

Junior Leah Smith led Park in the allaround, scoring a 33.300. She had her team’s top scores in the vault (8.750) and uneven bars (8.675).

Emily Dahlstrom had Park’s best score in the balance beam (8.475) and in floor exercise (8.625). Sophomore Ashley Lentz led the Wolfpack in the vault with a score of 8.750.

Park’s top five finishers were Smith (33.300), Dahlstrom (32.150), Lentz (31.075), senior Kennedy Blaschko (22.250) and Breanna Mellingen (20.550).

“We did okay,” said Park head coach Ali Flaata. “Last week was our first meet out and so we were just hoping to maintain what we had put forth last week and then build upon that a little bit. We are out two girls from our meet last week due to injury so we had to have some people step into the lineup in place of them. But yea, they did a good job.

“Ashley got her vault again today, she made her tsuk,” said Flaata. “On bars Leah made it through her bar routine for the first time ever. And Emily Dahlstrom had a beautiful beam routine. On floor, Kennedy, Leah and Emily had beautiful floor routines.”

The meet evened Park’s season record at 1-1. White Bear Lake defeated Park 130.5 to 127.775 in the Wolfpack’s first meet on Jan. 28.
