Boys LAX team drops SEC pair
After opening the season with three straight wins, the Park Woolpack boys have now dropped five straight, falling to Mounds View and Stillwater in Suburban East Conference boys' lacrosse last week.
Mounds View took down Park 12-7 at Cottage Gove on May 6 while Stillwater defeated the Wolfpack 17-3 at Stillwater Thursday.
Zachary Devaan, Samuel Reckinger and Jacob Czarnota each had two goals for Park against Mounds View. Bradley Johnson had one.
Johnson led Park with two goals against Stillwater and Henry Voss had the other.
Park fell to 2-5 in the SEC and 3-5 on the season with the two losses.
The Wolfpack play two non-conference contests this week, first against TriMAC (1-8) Thursday at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, then play Bloomington Kennedy/Burnsville (4-6) Thursday at Burnsville.
Volleyball team splits SEC pair
Park split a pair of Suburban East Conference games in boys' volleyball last week, losing 3-0 at league-leading Mounds View on Tuesday, them coming back for a 3-1 win at Stillwater Thursday.
Mounds View won 25-15, 2624 and 25-15 to remain undefeated in the SEC at 8-0.
At Stillwater, Park scored a 25-27, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21 victory in four close games.
The split left Park with a 5-3 record in the conference, good for fourth place, and an 11-15 overall record.
Adapted softball team wins berth at state
The South Washington County Thunderbolts advanced to state in the varsity CI adapted softball tournament with an easy playoff win Thursday, routing Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville 20-0 at East Ridge.
The Thunderbolts are now scheduled to play the No 1 team from the north, the Osseo Orioles, Friday in the state quarterfinals. That game will be held at Chanhassen High School, starting at 5 p.m. the semifinals, finals, third place and consolation games will be held Saturday at Chanhassen.
Looker, Bonin, Destasio lead Park boys golfers
Charles Looker (75), Tyler Bonin (77) and Michael Destasio (79) all broke 80s to lead the Park boys Monday in a conference golf meet at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
Mac Maluski shot an 81, Eli Daly and 82 and Connor Borst a 92 for the Wolfpack.
Cretin-Derham Hall won the team title with a score of 304. Mounds View and Stillwater tied for second with 310s and Park was fourth in the nine-team race with a 312.
Stepka's record round tops Park girls' golfers
Gabby Stepka shot a career low 89 to lead the Park girls in a meet Friday at Emerald Greens in Hastings in the Rosemount “Irish” Open.
Aspyn Offenhauser shot a 96, Elsie Corrigan a 98, Olivia Korpi a 99, Elizabeth Chilton a 101 and Riley Klinke a110.
The top finisher for the JV was Alaina Rislove with a 96 and a sixth-place finish overall.
Tennis team falls in section opener
Host Rosemount took a 6-1 decision from Park Monday afternoon in boys section tennis.
Tyler McKeague was Park’s only winner Monday, scoring a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
In other matches last week, Park fell to Stillwater 6-1 on Tuesday, lost 7-0 to East Ridge on Thursday, and lost to Roseville 5-2 Friday
McKeague won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles against SW. Colin Winkler won 5-7, 7-5 11-9) at No. 3 singles and Park’s No. 3 doubles team of Collin Price and Cam Picasso won 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 10-8 against Roseville.
