Park falls in game amid mourning loss of Coach Plaschko
Park wrapped up the 2025 regular baseball season with an 8-4 loss at Forest Lake Monday.
The game obviously was played under a shadow for the Wolfpack as varsity assistant baseball coach Jeff Plaschko passed away Saturday from a medical condition. Plaschko was also an assistant football coach at Park. Prior to joining the Wolfpack, he had been the athletic director, head football and baseball coach at St. Paul Johnson for several years.
He was planning to retire at the end of the school year.
Park finished the regular season 3-15 in the Suburban East Conference and 3-17 overall.
Park’s baseball struggles continued last week as the Wolfpack dropped four games.
Park lost 8-7 at Woodbury on Monday, fell to White Bear Lake 8-4 on Wednesday, dropped an 11-1 decision at Stillwater Friday and lost at home to Owatonna 11-1 on Saturday.
Against the Royals, Park fell behind 6-0 after two innings and trailed 7-3 before rallying to tie the game at 7-all with four runs in the top of the seventh. But the Royals won the game with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Max Kaplan went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for Park. Dominic Nellessen went 1-for-3 with one run batted in.
Connor Holtan pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs. Fisher Enberg finished the game, allowing six runs on three hits.
Bonin’s ties for the top in SEC golf meet
Park senior Tyler Bonin shot a 72 to tie for first place in the Suburban East Conference championships Monday at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson.
Senior Mac Maluski carded a 76 to tie for fifth place. Charles Looker was 20th with an 82; Eli Daly 26th with an 83; Connor Borst 36th with an 86; and Michael Destasio 40th with an 87.
Cretin-Derham Hall won the conference team crown with a score of 301. Park was second with a 313, followed by 3, Stillwater, 318; 4, White Bear Lake, 322; 5, East Ridge, 325; 6, Mounds View, 328; 7, Roseville, 333; 8, Forest Lake, 338; and 9, Woodbury, 339.
Volleyball team wraps regular season with win
Park wrapped up the regular boys' volleyball season with a road win in straight games Tuesday, sweeping host White Bear Lake in three.
Park won in three games, 25-14, 25-11 and 25-11.
The Wolfpack finished tied for fourth in the Suburban East Conference with a 6-3 record. Park us 12-15 on the season.
Park is idle until the first round of section play on Tuesday, May 27.
Boys LAX team wins 11-10 match
Bradley Johnson scored five goals to lead Park to an 11-10 win over TriMAC Thursday at St. Paul Academy and Summit School in St. Paul.
Samuel Reckinger added three goals for the Wolfpack, Evan Foote scored two and Zachary Devaan had one.
Gavin Sand went the distance in goal for the Wolfpack.
White Bear Lake 21, Park 1
White Bear Lake dominated the action in a 21-1 win at Cottage Grove Tuesday. The Bears led 5-0 after one period, 10-1 after two and 16-1 after three.
Park’s schedule game at Bloomington Kennedy/Burnsville was postponed.
The Wolfpack (2-6, 4-6) are scheduled to play Roseville (1-7, 3-8) Wednesday, then host Hastings (6-5) Thursday in a regular season finale.
Park girls sixth at Stillwater
Park finished sixth at Stillwater Country Club Monday in girls golf. Park’s top finishers were Aspyn Offenhauser 47, followed by Elizabeth Chilton, Elsie Corrigan and Becca Rugless with 50 scores.
The Park JV also played at Stillwater CC and the top finishers were Mia Cyr with a 49 and Alaina Rislove and Elllie Gieser with a 51.
On Wednesday, the Wolfpack played in the White Bear Lake coed tourney where the boys and girls played in pairs at Oak Glen in Stillwater. The top finishers for Park were Aspyn Offenhauser and Micheal Destasio, Gabby Stepka Looker and Charlie, followed by Becca Rugless and Tyler Bonin.
