Joa, Hafiz lead cross country teams

Henry Joa finished seventh and Jana Hafiz 18th to lead the Park cross country teams Saturday in the Simley Invite.

Joa clocked a time of 17:04.3 to lead the Wolfpack in the varsity boys 5K. Ben Paulsen was 30th (18:32.4), Will Mann 41st (19:09.4), Adebare Goodness Agunbiade 54th (19:44.6), Liam Fleming 55th (19:45.7), and Adam Kluz was 100th (24:20.9).

Park’s Eli Firchau missed the meet.

Park was eighth in the 15-team boys team race. Woodbury won the meet with 57 points, followed by: Hastings, 83; East Ridge, 99; Nova Classical Academy, 105; Simley, 121; Burnsville, 148; Minneapolis South, 163; Park, 187; Academy of Holy Angels, 263; Richfield, 308; Mahtomedi, 322; Tartan, 377; Twin Cities Academy/Great River, 403; and South S. Paul, 459.

Hafiz’s time of 22:17.6 led the Park girls. Alli Devine was 33rd (23:29.4), Bella Walker 45th (24:34.0), Eva McMorrow 68th (26:33.5) and Natalie Long 73rd (26:47.7).

Edina won the girls team race with just 23 points, putting five runners in the top eight. East Ridge was second (82), Hastings third (90), Woodbury fourth (103), Nova fifth (128), Mahtomedi sixth (159), Park seventh (168), and Holy Angles eighth (177).

Park seventh grader Marshall Bowe finished second in the middle school two-mile in 12:56.4. Mya Albrecht was sixth (15:34.8) and Ramsey Nelson seventh (15:46.3) in the girls' middle school two-mile race.

Park competes in the Section 3AAA Championships Thursday at Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley.


Divers lead Park team at Forest Lake

Park’s diver finished 1-2-4 to lead the Park swim and dive team Thursday at Forest Lake.

Isabelle Brown won the event with a score of 185.40. Ruby Igl was second with 179.90 points and Clair Linscheid fourth with 159,30 points,

Chloe Micek was second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.45) and clocked a time of 1:20.65 in the breaststroke.

Grace Sahli finished second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.90) and was third in the 50 (27.26),

Chloe Omtvedt was third in the 200-yard IM (2:47.31), Lyla Kopp was fourth in the butterfly (1:26.49), Celestina De Gracia was fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:57.11), Kake Norgaard third in the backstroke (1:19.88),

In the relays Park was second in the 200-yard medley (Kopp, Lillian Chen, Norgaard, Omtvedt, 1:59.93), won the 200-yard freestyle relay (Micek, Omtvedt, Evelyn Sahli, Grace Sahli, 1:52.89) and swam a time of 4:38.52 in the closing 400-yard freestyle relay with Evelyn Sahli, Lia Boudouris, Ava Elthon and Celestina De Gracia.

Forest Lake edged Park for the team race 94-85.

Park volleyball team drops two

Host Mounds View (2-4, 7-6) defeated the Park Wolfpack in three games Thursday, winning 25-9, 25-10 and 25-11.

The loss dropped the Wolfpack to 0-6 in the Suburban East Conference and 2-16-1 on the season.

Roseville 3, Park 0

It was another tough night for the Wolfpack as visiting Roseville swept Park in three games Tuesday, winning 25-8, 25-19 and 25-9.

Park wraps up the regular season with a game at Irondale (0-6, 9-14) Wednesday, then hosts Stillwater (5-1, 11-9) Monday.

Girls' tennis falls 4-3 at Rosemount

Park dropped a heartbreaker, losing a 4-3 decision to host Rosemount on Sept. 30 in a girls' tennis section quarterfinals.

Fifth-seeded Park split the singles but won just one of three doubles matches against the fourth-seeded Irish.

Winning for the Wolfpack were Addie Corkish at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3), Alaina Post at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-2) and Liv Evans and Chloe Newhouse at No. 1 doubles (6-2, 4-6, 10-1).

Park’s Camilla Brooks lost at No. 1 singles (2-6, 2-6) and Alayna Adamez fell at No. 2 singles (4-6, 0-6).

In doubles, Park’s No. 2 team of Keria Brennan and Ava Youngquist lost 6-7, 1-6 and the No.3 doubles team of Evie Johnson and Bailey Ledman slipped 2-6, 6-0, 3-6.

Thunderbolts keep on rolling

South Washington Country went to 4-0 on the season with its first road win of the season Monday, defeating South Suburban 7-2.

The Thunderbolts opened the adapted soccer season with three straight wins at home, but this was the teams’ first victory in what will be the first of five straight road games.

This season, South Washington will play home-and-away games with four teams in the CI Southeast division, plus one game at Columbia Heights-St. Anthony-Fridley. The Thunderbolts look to be the class of the division at 4-0, with the next two teams in the standings both 1-1-1.
