Evans/Newhouse finish fourth in girls section tennis
Park’s top doubles team of Olivia Evans and Chloe Newhouse led the way for the Wolfpack in girls tennis in the 3AAA individual section tournament held Friday and Monday at Baseline Tennis Center.
Evans/Newhouse finished fourth place in the tournament.
Evans/Newhouse won in round one 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and triumphed in the second round, 6-1, 6-3 over Abigail Jacobsen/Jennedy LaBounty of East Ridge. The Park team then dropped a 1-6, 0-6 decision to Brooklyn Keller/Reese Keller of Hastings in the doubles semifinals.
Keira Brennan and Ava Youngquist lost 0-6, 1-6 in the first round at No. 2 doubles.
In No. 1 singles, Park’s Camilla Brooks won in round one over Wills Nelson of Hastings, 6-0, 7-5, then lost in round two to Anna Siwek of Rosemount, 2-6, 0-6. Addie Corkish of the Wolfpack lost 0-6, 0-6 to Julie Simone of East Ridge at No. 2 singles.Micek, Sahli lead swim and dive team
Park’s Chloe Micek and Grace Sahli each had wins and top finishes to highlight Thursday’s dual swim and dive meet at Stillwater.
Micek won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.87 and finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:26.59).
Grace Sahli won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.85 and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.09).
In the relays, Park was second in the 200-yard medley (Micek, Grace Sahli, Chloe Omtvedt, Katelyn Norgaard, 2:05.84), Park’s 200-yard freestyle team of Evelyn Sahli, Katelyn Norgaard, Celestine De Gracia and Chloe Omtvedt clocked a time of 2:00.50 and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Evelyn Sahli, Norgaard, Micek and Grace Sahli finished in 4:12.26.
Park’s divers went 4-5-6 with Isabelle Brown fourth (187.80 points), Ruby Igl fifth (184.20) and Claire Linscheid sixth (164.40).
Omtvedt was third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.92) and fourth in the 200 freestyle, Celestina De Gracia was fourth in the butterfly (1:17.23) and fourth in the 500 (6:48.96),
Stillwater won the meet 97-72.
Divers lead at Simley
Park divers Ruby Igl (second, 331.10 points), Isabelle Brown (fifth, 310.10) and Claire Linscheid (sixth, 269.60) all cracked the top six in the Simley Invite Oct. 4.
Grace Sahli was third in the breaststroke (1:13.90), Chloe Micek finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:27.56) and sixth in the backstroke (1:05.35), Chloe Omtvedt was fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:05.90).
Park was fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Micek, Grace Sahli, Evelyn Sahli and Omtvedt finishing in 2:04.58.
Park hosts Mounds View Thursday, Oct. 23, starting at 6 p.m., in the final home meet of the season.Stillwater sweeps Park volleyball
Conference champion Stillwater swept the Park Wolfpack in three games Monday, winning 25-16, 25-22 and 25-15 to end the regular season for the Wolfpack.
Park finished the season 0-9 in the Suburban East Conference and 2-20-1 on the season.
Stillwater ended with an 8-1 record in the SEC and are 17-11 overall.
Forest Lake 2, Park 1
Park dropped a tough 25-23, 18-25, 13-25 decision to Forest Lake in the 16-team Bloomington Jefferson tournament Saturday.
Irondale 3, Park 0
Host Irondale won its first Suburban East Conference match of the season with a tight three-set victory over visiting Park Wednesday, winning 25-21, 25-1 and 25-18.
Cretin-Derham Hall 3, Park 0
League-leading Cretin-Derham Hall downed host Park Tuesday, winning 25-7, 25-1 and 25-7 to start a bust week for the Wolfpack.
