Thunderbolts flash to go 7-0-1

The South Washington Country Thunderbolts continued their winning ways Monday, scoring a 12-3 adapted soccer win at Columbia Heights/St. Anthony/Fridley.

The Thunderbolts improved to 7-0-1 with the victory. The latest win followed a 9-4 triumph at Lakeville/Burnsville/Farmington on Oct. 22.

South Washington wraps up the regular season with a home game Wednesday against South Suburban (4-2-2), starting at 4:30 p.m. at East Ridge.

Sahli's win tops Park swim and dive team
Grace Sahli won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.03 to highlight Park’s swim and dive meet against visiting Mounds View Thursday.

Chloe Micek was third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.85) and finished with a 1:03.89 time in the 100-yard backstroke.

Ruby Igl was second in diving (195.20), Isabelle Brown third (178.75) and Alice Wood fifth (163.25).

Evelyn Sahli was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:26.00), Melanie Grochow fourth in the 200-yard IM (2;53.22), Chloe Omtvedt fourth in the butterfly (1:24.71), Eraya Nybakken fourth in the 100 freestyle (1:06.44), Lia Boudouris fourth in the 500 (6:46.32),

In the other relays Park was third in the 200-yard medley (Micek, Grace Sahli, Nybakken, Ava Elthon, 2:03.00), first in the 200-yard freestyle (Evelyn Sahli, Celestina De Gracia, Nybakken, Grace Sahli, 1:56.70) and first in the 400-yardf freestyle (Omtvedt, Grace Sahli, Micek, Elthon, 4:14.25).

Mounds View prevailed in the team race, 97-76.

Next up for the Park swimmers and divers is the Girls 3AA Section meet, held Wednesday, Nov. 5 through Friday. Nov. 7 at Two Rivers High School, from 6 to 8 p.m. each day.

Volleyball team falls at East Ridge

A long and challenging season for the Park High volleyball team ended Tuesday at East Ridge.

The fifth-ranked and top-seeded East Ridge Raptors defeated the Wolfpack in three games, winning 25-8, 25-8 and 25.7 in a Class 4A, Section 3 quarterfinal.

Eighth-seeded Park ends the season with a 2-21-1 record.

East Ridge (21-7) then defeated Eastview 3-0 in the section semifinals. The Raptors host second-seeded Eagan Thursday in the section finals.

Park loses five seniors off this team – Sophia Field, Ameenah Alowonle, Amelia Nieman, Harem Esayas and Alaina Rislove -- but will return a host of varsity veterans for next fall.
