McMorrow’s two goals lift Wolfpack girls
Not content with scoring the tying goal in the third, Park junior forward Maleah McMorrow slammed in the game winner in overtime to lift the Wolfpack to a dramatic 3-2 win over Eastview at Apple Valley Sports Arena Saturday evening.
Park’s Stella Daly tied the game a 1-all in the first, then McMorrow scored at 11:06 in the third to tie the game at 2-all and won it with a goal at 3:02 in the fourth.
Daly added two assists to go with her goal. Alaina Post, Addie Corkish and Nora Thurmes had an assist each.
Alayna Adamez got the win in goal, stopping 24 of 26 shots for a .923 success rate.
Park evened its season record at 3-3. Eastview slipped to 1-7.
The Wolfpack now have three straight road games, playing at Roseville/Mahtomedi (1-4, 2-4) on Thursday, at Cretin-Derham Hall (2-3, 2-5) Saturday and at East Ridge (2-2, 4-2-1) Tuesday.
Apple Valley 5, Park 2
Host Apple Valley jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period and skated to a 5-2 win over visiting Pak in a non-conference girls hockey match at Apple Valley Sports Arena Friday.
Apple Valley (6-1) led 4-1 after two periods.
Lauren Tait scored for Park in the first period and Maleah McMorrow got a goal in the third. Madison Milosevich had two assists and Tait one.
Gabriella Stepka went about 47 minutes in goal and stopped 30 of 34 shots.
Stillwater 7, Park 1
Host Stillwater’ skated past the Wolfpack 7-1 in a Suburban East Conference contest at St. Croix Rec Center Tuesday.
Stillwater boys skate past the Wolfpack
Visiting Stillwater took down the Park Wolfpack in Suburban East Conference boys hockey Wednesday, winning 6-2 at Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
The 22nd-ranked Ponies – state runner-up last season -- led 2-0 after the first period and 5-1 after two.
Park’s Nick Bailey scored in the opening minutes of the second period, with an assist by Gavin Sand, to cut the Stillwater lead to 2-1. But the Ponies then scored twice more in the period for a 5-1 lead.
Park’s Jack Kennedy got the final goal of the night, scoring at 2:40 in the third period. Kayden Hoberg had an assist on the play.
Henry Voss stopped 26 of 32 shots in goal for the Wolfpack.
Park (0-2-1) plays at Forest Lake (2-0) Thursday, then hosts No. 12 White Bear Lake (1-0-1) Saturday at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting at 5 p.m.
