Park’s Eli Firchau, Gavin Stauffer and Henry Joa swept the top three places in the boys 5K race in the season-opening Cretin-Derham Hall cross country invitational Friday at Lake Elmo Park Reserve.

Junior Firchau won the hilly course race in a time of 17:24.5, senior Stauffer was second in 17:54.4 and sophomore Joa finished third in 17:58.7.

Park’s boys tied for the team title with St. Paul Como Park, both with 25 points. St. Paul Central was third in the boys race with 65 and St. Paul Humboldt/Open World Learning fourth with 95.

Ben Paulsen of the Wolfpack finished 12th in 19:28.9. Will Mann was 17th in 20:39.3, Miles Kaiser 19th in 20:46.2, Jackson Rentz 20th in 20:50.8, Liam Fleming 22nd in 20:56.5 and Sam Paulsen 31st in 22:44.5.

In the girls 5K, Park’s Jana Hafiz was 14th in 26:48.4 and Kalin Randrup 15th in 26:54.2. Allie Devine finished 17th in 27:04.5, Marin Kirsch was 28th in 30:35.8 and Hollen Thompson 30th in 32:31.7.

The Park girls' team third in the team race with a score of 63. St. Paul Central won with a perfect score of 15 and St. Paul Humboldt was second with 60.

In the boys 3,200 meters, Park’s Caden Helseth was eighth in 14:13.6. Esme Edlund was third in the girls 3,200 meters in 16:11.2.

Park hosts its only home meet of the season Thursday, the Grey Cloud Invitational. The meet starts at 3:30 p.m., at Cottage Grove Middle School/Grey Cloud Elementary. Teams competing will be Cretin-Derham Hall, East Ridge, Hastings and Trinity School at River Ridge.
