After several challenging games, Park had a walk in the park Friday, with an 11-0 Suburban East Conference win in five innings over visiting Irondale.
The Wolfpack went to 5-3 in the SEC – tied for fourth place -- and 6-3 on the season. Irondale fell to 1-9 in the conference and 2-10 overall.
“I feel like it’s a really big momentum booster for us honestly, because I feel like when you run-rule a team like this it helps get everybody up and excited to keep the season going and I feel like we really needed a win like this,” said freshman Mackenzie Darsow. “It has been a really good week.”
Park‘s pitching allowed just three hits and struck out nine Irondale batters.
“I think we can take away that it means a lot to have good energy and have fun,” said senior pitcher Averie Kurtzbein. “And that we can do the little things right.
“To go and lose to Stillwater, I feel we’ve learned a lot since then, and we’ve done a lot of things a lot better,” Kurtzbein added.
Next up for Park is a key game at Cretin-Derham Hall (5-3, 5-4) on Wednesday, followed by a game at Roseville (3-7, 3-7) Friday afternoon and then a home match against top-ranked Forest Lake (8-1, 8-1) on Monday. May 5.
