Volleyball team swept in three

Park had a tough week in girls volleyball, dropping three straight Suburban East Conference season-opening matches, including a tough loss at home to sixth-ranked East Ridge on Monday.

The Raptors won in three games, 25-12, 25-7 and 25-14.

Park fell to 0-3 in the conference and 1-10-1 on the season. East Ridge went to 2-1 in the SEC and 12-4 overall.

Forest Lake 3, Park 0

Host Forest Lake (2-0, 7-4) swept visiting Park in three games Thursday, winning 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16.

White Bear Lake 3, Park 0

Host White Bear Lake swept the visiting Wolfpack Tuesday, winning 25-7, 25-16 and 25-17.

Park plays at Woodbury (1-2, 6-7) Wednesday, then hosts Roseville (2-2, 11-6) on Tuesday.

Hafiz, Firchau lead cross country efforts

Park’s Jana Hafiz and Eli Firchau both had top 10 finishes Saturday to lead Park at the 14-team Osceola cross country invitational.

Hafiz finished seventh in the girls 5,000-meter run in 22:01.20. Allison Devine was 28th(23:49.40), Bella Walker 29th (24:04.20), Eva McMorrow 65th (27:54.60), Annaleigh Johnson 70th(30:14.60, Joyce Yang 71st (30:39.10) and Jaylynn Meyer was 74th in 31:31.20.

Park’s girls were sixth in the team race. St. Croix Central won the meet with 47 points, followed by: Prescott, 64; Somerset, 66; Osceola, 83; Minnehaha Academy, 122; Park, 150; and Webster, 183.

Firchau finished ninth in a time of 17:38.80 to lead the Park boys in a field of 107 finishers. Ben Paulsen was 14th (18:27.20), Henry Joa 21st (19:23.10), Kroix Pearson 25th (19:45.50), Liam Fleming 26th (19:49.50) and Adebare Goodness Agunbiade 43rd (20:47.70), Jackson Joslin 51st(21:13.50), Sam Craig 63rd (22:01.80), Adam Kluz 72nd (22:37.71), Dominic Kamau 86th(24:36.71), Hamish McAvaney 97th (26.18.70), John Voyda 101st (26:59.10) and Liam McKee 105th (28:33.80).

Minnehaha Academy won the boys team race with 48 points, followed by Osceola, 55; St. Croix Central, 95; Park, 95; Ellsworth, 103; Prescott, 128; Somerset, 170; Webster, 222; and St. Croix Falls, 257.

Marshall Bowe of Cottage Grove won the boys middle school two-mile run in 12:29.10.

Park’s boys and girls compete in the Red Wing Invite Thursday, with a 4 p.m. start.

Sahli, Micek, divers pace Park swim and dive team

Grace Sahli and Chloe Micek each won two events as the Park swim and dive team hosted Irondale Thursday in a Suburban East Conference meet.

Sahli finished first in the 200 yard IM (2:27.40) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.13),

Micek won the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.74) and the 100-yarf breaststroke (1:18.99).

Park’s divers went 1-2-3 in the meet, led by Alice Wood’s score of 160.15, followed by Isabelle Brown, 155.15 and Claire Linscheid, 153.05.

In the relays, Park was second in the 200-yard medley in 2:03.99 (Micek, Grace Sahli, Evelyn Sahli, Ava Elthon), third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.20 (Elthon, Katelyn Norgaard, Chloe Omtvedt, Lyla Kopp), and first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:09.14 (E. Sahli, Omtvedt, G. Sahli, Micek).

Chloe Omtvedt was fourth in the 50 freestyle (28.81) and the 100 freestyle (1:03.44), Evelyn Sahli third in the butterfly (1:17.97), Lia Boudouris fourth in the 500 (7:07.44).

Irondale won the team race, 100-78.

Park meets East Ridge Thursday at Oltman Middle School, starting at 6 p.m.

Park’s scoreless streak stretches to five games

Park remained in a frustrating scoring slump on a rainy Thursday evening in Cottage Grove, falling to visiting Woodbury by a 2-0 count in Suburban East Conference girls' soccer.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Wolfpack and the fourth consecutive scoreless game.

Park fell to 0-4-1 in the SEC and 3-6-2 on the season.

Woodbury remained atop the conference standings, improving to 5-0 in the SEC and 8-1-1 overall.

White Bear Lake 2, Park 0

Park’s scoring woes continued in a 2-0 loss at White Bear Lake Tuesday. It was the third straight game -- and fourth in five games -- where the Wolfpack failed to score.

Park hosts Mounds View Thursday (2-1-1, 3-3-3) with a 7 p.m. start, then plays at Hastings (5-4-2) in a girl/boy doubleheader starting at noon.


Boys soccer team splits two games

Park dropped a tough 2-1 non-conference decision Saturday at Shakopee, falling to 4-5-1 in the season.

Neither team scored in the first half, but the hosts doubled up the score on the visitors after the break.

The Woodbury at Park game originally schedule for Thursday, Sept. 18, was postponed by the weather.

Park 4, White Bear Lake 1

Junior midfielder/forward JJ Sanchez had a hat trick and the visiting Wolfpack got a much needed win Tuesday with a 4-1 win at White Bear Lake.

Devan Yang had Park’s other goal and two assists the game. Chance Vang and Isaac Lor added assists.

The win snapped a 0-2-1 streak by the Wolfpack.

Park hosts Mounds View (2-1-1, 4-4-1) Thursday with a 5 p.m. start, then plays at Hastings (3-6) in a non-conference contest Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
