Girls' hockey team goes 2-1 in tournament
Park went 2-1 in the AC Girls Holiday Classic at New Hope Ice Arena Dec. 29-31, skating past Bloomington Jefferson 3-2 and Osseo/Park Center 2-0, while losing the final game to Bemidji 4-1.
Stella Daly had two goals and Tenley Wesley one as Park took down Bloomington Jefferson on Dec. 29. Maleah McMorrow and Daly had the goals in the win over Osseo/Park Center.
Bemidji stopped Park’s winning streak at three games with a 4-1 win Dec. 31. Avery Tait had Park’s only goal in the third period.
Park goalie Hailey Garcia stopped 21 of 23 shots against Jefferson. Alayna Adamez was perfect in the net against Osseo, stopping all 23 shots to earn the shutout win.
Park (7-9, 3-7) meets East Ridge (11-5-1, 7-4) in a Suburban East Conference match Thursday at Cottage Grove Ice Arena with a 7 p.m. start time, then hosts Roseville/Mahtomedi Saturday at 2 p.m.
Austin tops Park in boys' basketball
Austin took a 79-74 decision from Park at Bryon High School Saturday afternoon in the Southern Minnesota Hoops Fest.
Austin led 29-25 at the half, then outscored the Wolfpack 50-49 after the break.
Park senior forward Aaron Sandin had a season high 31 points in the game. Justin Ebbers scored 13, Brandon Bihm 9, Peyton Faber and Carter Coombs 8 each.
Park fell to 6-3 on the season.
The Wolfpack dropped a 70-52 decision at the Academy of Holy Angels on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Park plays at No. 18 and conference-leading East Ridge (7-2, 3-0) Wednesday with a 7 p.m. start.
Boys' hockey win streak ends at two
Eastview stopped Park’s winning streak at two Saturday evening with a 4-1 non-conference victory at Apple Valley Sports Arena.
Park scored first, on a power play goal by Chase Nadler at just 2:59 into the game. Kayden Hoberg and Gavin Sand had assists.
But that was it for the Wolfpack scoring wise. Eastview put in the next four goals to take control of the game, including two empty net scored late in the fourth period.
Park goalie Henry Voss stopped 26 of 28 shots for a .929 success rate.
After five straight non-conference contests, Park (7-6-1, 3-3) returns to Suburban East Conference play Wednesday at home, hosting Woodbury (4-8-1, 1-4) with a 7 p.m. start. Park then plays at Cretin-Derham Hall (8-5, 4-0) Saturday with a 2 p.m. start at Highland Ice Arena.
Park 4, Prior Lake 2
Kayden Hoberg put in the last two goals of the game to lift Park from a 2-all tie to a 4-2 win Tuesday, Dec. 30 at the Dakotah! Ice Center.
Prior Lake took a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Wolfpack scored the next four goals, single shots by Quintin Wilhelmy and Chase Nadler and then back-to-back scores by Hobert at the 13:54 and 16:59 marks in the third period.
Hoberg, Logan Bachand, Gavin Sand, Wilhelmy and Nick Bailey had assists for the Wolfpack.
Ryan Janaszak got the win in the net, stopping 28 of 30 shots for a .933 success rate.
Park 3, Two Rivers 1
Hoberg continued his hot shooting hand Friday with two more goals as the Wolfpack skated to a 3-1 victory over Two Rivers at West St. Paul Arena.
Hoberg gave Park leads of 1-0 and then 2-1 before Sand iced the game with a goal at 16:40 in the third period.
Jack Kennedy had two assists for Park, Charlie Gander, Luke Dahlstrom, Nadler and Riley Koch had assists,
Henry Voss earned the net win, stopped 20 of 21 shots.
Girls' basketball edges Hastings
Pak snapped a three-game losing streak with a 41-40 thriller over visiting Hastings in non-conference girls basketball Saturday afternoon at Cottage Grove.
The Wolfpack trailed Hastings 26-14 at the half but outscored Hastings 27-14 after the break.
Graycie Smith’s 15 points led the Wolfpack offensively. Malaya Ramirez scored 7, Olivia Czarnota and Raimee Ashfaq 6 each.
Park (3-7, 0-6) plays at North St. Paul (1-8) Wednesday, then at Mounds View (7-5, 3-3) Friday.
Davis scores near sweep to lead gymnastics
Park senior Ashley Davis completed a near sweep of events Friday to lead the 15th-ranked Park Wolfpack to a Suburban East Conference gymnastics win over host Stillwater.
Davis won the vault (9.375), bars (8.825) and floor (9.375) and scored a 35.825 to take the all-around title. The only event Davis didn’t win was the beam, which went to teammate Makala Bollman, who scored an 8.725 to finish first.
Bollman finished second in the all-around with a season’s best score of 34.725. Bollman was second on the vault (9.175), third on the bars (7.975), won the beam and finished second on the floor (8.85).
Park’s Eleanor Thompson was fifth in the all-around (30.825), Audrey Reimers ninth (15.95), Luella Erling 11th (15.525), Natalie Peters 12th (14.925), Kadence Glide 14th (8.075) and Charlotte Faber 15th (8.05).
Park won the team competition, 133.5 to 130.45.
In the vault, after Davis and Bollman, Thompson was fourth (8.35), Reimers sixth (8.275) and Glide ninth (8.075).
Erling was fifth on the bars (7.525), Peters ninth (6,875) and Thompson 10th (6.675).
Faber finished fifth on beam (8.05), Thompson sixth (7.825) and Reimers eighth (7.675).
Peters was seventh on floor (8.05), Erling eighth (8.0) and Thompson ninth (7.975).
Park is ranked 15th this week in the Minnesota Girls Gymnastics Coaches Association poll with an average score of 131.600. The Wolfpack are the top-ranked team in Section 3AA.
Park hosts Roseville Thursday with a 6 p.m. start.
