Thunderbolts win two, now 5-1

The South Washington County Thunderbolts racked up two more wins last week, running their season record to 5-1.

The Thunderbolts topped Dakota United 13-9 in an away game Monday, Jan.12, then blanked visiting South Suburban 10-0 at Park Wednesday. It was South Washington County’s fifth straight win after a season-opening loss to the same South Suburban team.

The twin wins put the Thunderbolts at 5-1 with four games remaining during the regular season. South Washington County competes at Owatonna on Wednesday, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Girls hockey team blanked in two games

Sixth-ranked Woodbury took down Park 6-0 in girls hockey Saturday evening at M. Health Fairview Sports Center.

The Royals led 2-0 after one period and 5-0 after three.

Hailey Garcia stopped 39 of 45 Woodbury shots. Park managed just 17 shots against the Royals.

Park fell to 3-11 in the SEC and 7-13 on the season. Woodbury remained undefeated in the conference at 13-0-1 and stands 21-0-1 overall.

Stillwater 4, Park 0
The visiting Ponies took a 4-0 decision in Suburban East Conference girls hockey Tuesday evening.

Stillwater led just 1-0 going into the third period but pushed across three goals in the period for the final score.

Hailey Garcia stopped 29 of 33 Stillwater shots in goal for the Wolfpack. Park managed just 18 shots against the Ponies.

Girls basketball drops SEC pair

The host Rangers took a 69-48 decision from the visiting Park Wolfpack in Suburban East Conference girls basketball Friday.

Forest Lake led 37-23 at the half and won the second half 32-25.

Graycie Smith scored 18 points for the Wolfpack. Tea Alvarenga added 9.

Park slipped to 1-9 in the SEC and 5-10 on the season. Forest Lake went to 8-1 in the conference and 14-2 overall.

The Wolfpack play at Woodbury (8-7. 6-3) Friday, then host Bloomington Jefferson (11-5) Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff.

East Ridge 79, Park 36

Suburban East Conference leaders and thirteenth-ranked East Ridge took a 79-36 decision from the host Park Wolfpack Wednesday night in Cottage Grove.

The Raptors led 41-18 at the half and the second half was more of the same, won by East Ridge 38-18.

Olivia Czarnota’s 13 points and Graycie Smith’s 10 led park offensively.

East Ridge improved to 8-0 in the SEC and 13-3 overall.

Richardson gets 100th win as Park splits

Fourth ranked at 189 pounds in Class AAA, Park captain and senior Dylan Richardson recorded his 100th career win for the Wolfpack last week.

Wrestling at Ellsworth High School Thursday, Park split a pair of decisions, pinning Baldwin-Woodville 69-12, while losing to host Ellsworth 43-30.

In the latest Guillotine individual rankings, senior Zack Carr is second ranked at 152 pounds and sophomore Landen Brooks eighth at 139.

The Guillotine’s Jan. 8 Class AAA team rankings have Stillwater second, Hastings third and Mounds View fourth.

Park has its first home wrestling meet of the season Thursday, hosting Roseville and Eagan in competition starting at 5 p.m.

The Wolfpack junior varsity, girls and varsity wrestles Saturday in the 16-team Veldman Invitational at South St. Paul High School, starting at 10 a.m.
