Thunderbolts fall in consolation final

South Washington Country dropped a 7-5 decision to the Osseo Orioles in the consolation championship Saturday in the 2026 Adapted Softball CI state tournament at Wayzata High School.

“The Thunderbolts returned to the state adapted softball tournament and competed with determination throughout the event,” said head coach Jeff Figlmiller.

“In the opening round, the Thunderbolts faced Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville and fell by a score of 11-1. The team responded with an impressive performance in the second round, defeating Mahtomedi/Stillwater 15-10 to advance in the consolation bracket. In the consolation championship game, the Thunderbolts battled hard but came up just short in a 7-5 loss to Osseo.

“Congratulations to the Thunderbolts on an outstanding season and a memorable appearance at the state tournament,” Figlmiller added. “Your hard work, teamwork and perseverance made the school community proud.”

The Thunderbolts finished the season with a 6-7 record.

The Dakota United Hawks scored a 10-0 win over New Prague to win the tournament. The Thunderbolts defeated the Hawks during the regular season, winning 12-8 on April 20.

Boys tennis team falls in section second round

Eighth-seeded Park went 1-1 in the Section 3AA boys tennis bracket, topping Simley 6-1 in the first round May 11, then losing to seventh-seeded Rosemount 5-2 in the second round May 12.

Park won 3 of 4 singles and all of the doubles against Simley in the first round. Park’s winners were Dylan Conn at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-3), Tyler McKague at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-1) and Colin Winkler at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-1).

In doubles the Wolfpack swept in straight sets with wins at No.1 doubles (Cam Picasso/Shane Pnewski, 6-3, 6-2), at No. 2 doubles (Zach Wood/Liam Shannon, 6-0, 6-1) and at No. 3 doubles (Will Taylor/Lucas Kulenkamp, 6-2, 6-2).

At Rosemount Tuesday it was the reverse with only Park’s No. 1 singles player Ethan Cole scoring a win, 6-4, 7-6 (10-2).

Boys lacrosse team goes 1-2 on the week

Host Park dropped a 20-7 decision to visiting St. Paul/Two Rivers in a non-conference boys lacrosse game Saturday afternoon.

Park fell to 3-9 on the season and stand 1-7 in the Suburban East Conference. St. Paul/Two Rivers improved to 10-2 overall.

The Wolfpack wrap up the regular season with a home game against East Ridge Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.

White Bear Lake 26, Park 3

Host White Bear Lake scored a 26-3 win in Suburban East Conference boys lacrosse Tuesday.

Park 8, TriMAC 6

The Wolfpack broke a six-game losing streak with a solid 8-6 non-conference win over visiting TriMAC on a rainy Thursday evening at Cottage Grove.

Park improved to 3-8 overall while Tri-MAC fell to 1-10 on the season..

Park girls golf seventh at Trou Burne

The Park girls varsity golf team placed seventh at Troy Burne Golf Course May 11, two strokes behind Cretin-Derham Hall.

Top finishers for the Wolfpack were seniors Olivia Korpi and Eliabeth Chilton.
