Joa, Walker led Wolfpack cross country teams
Park senior Henry Joa finished seventh overall in the boys 5K, and Park was fifth in the 10-team competition Saturday in the Oceola cross country invitational Saturday.
Joa ran a 17:08.0 race in the boys 5,000 meters. Joa trimmed more than two minutes from his 21st place finish in 19:23.10 the same race last season.
East Ridge won the boys half of the meet with 55 points. La Crosse Logan was second with 70, Osceola third with 79, Saint Croix Central fourth with 102, Park fifth with 106, Somerset sixth with 128, Ellsworth seventh with 140, Cumberland eighth with 201, Webster ninth with 286 and Prescott 10th with 298.
Park’s Liam Fleming was 18th (18:09.1), Ben Paulsen 24th (18:37.2), Nolan Bowe 30th (18:47.8), Marshall Bowe 31st (18:48.8), Jay Halstead-Delgado 63rd (20:49.7), Bentley Heise 64th (20:55.2), Will Mann 79th (22:15.7), Dominic Kamau 82nd (22:53.1), Adam Kluz 88th (23:29.6), John Voyda 100th (24:49.2), Ryley Johnson 103rd (25:32.6), Louis Harris 104th (25:59.0), Jadin Ulrigg 106th (26:26.7), Lachlan McAvaney 108th (26:47.4) and Hamish McAvaney 109th (26:47.5).
Junior Bella Walker led three tightly packed Park girls, finishing 24th in 23:09.0. Jana Hafiz was 27th in 23:22.1 and Mya Albrecht 28th in 23:26.3. Alaina Murphy was 41st (25:07.0), Ramsey Nelson 42nd (25:16.4), Eva McMorrow 53rd (26:47.1), Joyce Yang 71st (30:33.1), Annaleigh Johnson 85th (33:34.1) and Jaylynn Meyer (33:54.2).
Girls team scores were: 1, Saint Croix Central, 36. 2, East Ridge, 71, 3, Somerset, 86. 4, Osceola, 87, 5, Ellsworth, 144. 6, Park, 146. 7, Webster, 165. 8, Cumberland, 213 and 9, Prescott, 241.
It was a crowded competition with 114 boys and 89 girls finishing the varsity races.
The Wolfpack runs as one om the Red Wing Invite Thursday, starting at 4 p.m.
Boys soccer team goes 0-1-2 on the week
Park 0, Stillwater 0
Host Park and visiting Stillwater battled to a 0-0 in a Suburban East Conference match at Cottage Grove Tuesday.
Cretin-Derham Hall 3, Park 0
The Wolfpack continue to struggle finding the back of the net at host Cretin-Derham Hall scored a 3-0 win at St. Paul Thursday.
It was the four straight game in which the Wolfpack have failed to score. Park has just three goals in six games so far this season.
Eastview 4, Park 1
Host Eastview took a 4-1 decision from visiting Park in a non-conference contest Saturday. All five goals came in the first half.
Park (0-2-1, 0-4-3) plays at Woodbury (1-1-1, 3-3-2) Thursday in a boy-girl soccer doubleheader with the boys game starting at 5 p.m.
Soccer team bounces back with win over Cretin
Park bounced back from a hard loss against Stillwater on Tuesday with a solid 2-0 win at Cretin-Derham Hall Thursday evening.
Kylee Nickle and Lauren Tait scored Park’s two goals after a 0-0 tie in the first half. Mallorie Yang and Hanna Williams had the assists on the two goals.
Park improved to 2-1 in the Suburban East Conference with the win and 4-3-2 on the season.
Cretin slipped to 1-2 in the SEC and 1-6-1 overall.
Stillwater 5, Park 0
Visiting Stillwater (3-0, 5-1-1) dominated the action Tuesday, taking a 5-0 decision from the Wolfpack.
Park plays at Woodbury (1-2, 3-5) Thursday with a 7 p.m. start, then hosts Irondale (0-3, 2-6) Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.
Wolfpack volleyball team goes 1-1
Park 3, Two Rivers 2
The host Wolfpack shook off a 1-2 start to knock off visiting Two Rivers in another five-set marathon Tuesday, winning 12-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-21 and 15-10.
Cretin-Derham Hall 3, Park 0
Host Cretin-Derham Hall, undefeated and ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, topped the visiting Wolfpack in three games Thursday, winning 25-14, 25-13 and 25-5.
Cretin improved to 11-0 overall and 1-0 in the Suburban East Conference. Park slipped to 4-6 on the season and 0-1 in the SE C.
Park plays at Woodbury (1-4) Thursday with a 7 p.m. start, then hosts Faribault Saturday at 8 a.m.
