Gymnasts sixth in Below Zero meet
Park’s gymnasts finished sixth in the Wolfpack’s 11team Below Zero Invitational Saturday with a season best score of 136.100.
Unranked Stillwater gymnasts dominated the meet, placing five gymnasts in the top seven of the allaround. Laney Schwellenbach of sixth-ranked East Ridge won the all-around title with a score of 37.7.
Ashley Davis of the Wolfpack finished 10th in the all-around with a score of 35.350. Emily Dahlstrom was 12th in the all-around with a score of 34.750. Clara Opichka finished with a 33.050 score. Competing in just two events, Rainna Jameson had a score of 16.8 in the all-around.
Davis finished fifth on the bars, with a score of 9.0. Dahlstrom had a 7.9, Jameson a 7.8, Opichka a 7.4, and Kate Redmond a 7.250.
Davis (10th, 8.850) and Dahlstrom (11th, 8.800) topped the Wolfpack athletes on the beam. Opichka scored an 8.650, Ava Klecatsky a 7,750 and Audrey Reimers a 6.750.
Dahlstrom took seventh on the floor with Park’s high score of the meet, a 9.350. Davis scored an 8.950, Opichka an 8.559, Ruby Igl an 8.4 and Savanna Woulfe a 7.4.
Jameson was 14th in the vault with a score of 9.0. Dahlstrom had an 8.7 in the event, Davis an 8.550, Opichka an 8.450 and Kennedy Hanson an 8.350.
Stillwater won the team score with 146 points, followed by: 2, East Ridge, 142.700. 3, Lakeville South, 142.700. 4, Wayzata, 137.700. 5, Rosemount, 136.850. 6, Park, 136.100. 7, Sartell-Saint Stephen, 135.700. 8, Eden Prairie, 133.050. 9, Roseville, 129.300. 10, Austin, 128.850. 11, Woodbury, 123.900.
Wrestling team finishes second at Pine Island Park crowned three champions and finished second in the team race in the Pine Island Tournament Saturday.
Rochester Mayo scored 178.0 to finish first. Park was second with 154.
Winning titles for Park were: seventh grader Landon Brooks (113 pounds), ninth grader Zach Carr (120) and junior Sam Lankow (170).
Brooks, now ranked seventh at 113, scored a 4-2 decision in the finals to win the title.
But Park’s Gunnar Mullen, ranked fourth at 145, finished second, as did Alex Carr, ranked sixth at 182, who also lost in the tournament finals. Mullen (21-4) dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Mayo’s seventh- ranked Calder Sheehan in the 145 title match. Carr (17-8) was pinned by ninth-ranked Dylan Peper of Mayo in 53 seconds.
Park’s Lane Frandup was fourth at 120 pounds, Kyler Jubinal was fifth at 126, Joey Chilton took sixth at 132, Will Deutsch was fourth at 152, Dylan Richardson was second at 160, Fiyin Taiwo finished fifth at 195 and Doug Sabin was third at 285.

Forest Lake led 15-8 at the half. The Wolfpack warmed up in the second half but were outscored 3222 by the hosts.
Guard Emma Ambroz scored 10 points but she was the only Park player in double figures. Graycie Smith and Bryleigh Dana had 5 points each. Leading scorers on the season, Sydnee Nelson and Tori Henderson, combined for just seven points.
Park slipped to 3-6 in the SEC and 6-8 on the season. Forest Lake evened its conference record at 5-5 and stand 5-10 overall.
The Wolfpack host White Bear Lake (7-2, 13-3) Wednesday, Jan. 25, starting at 7 p.m.
East Ridge 56, Park 36
Host East Ridge rolled up a pair of 28-18 halves to down the visiting Park Wolfpack 56-36 in Suburban East Conference girls basketball Tuesday.
Playing without star point guard Sydnee Nelson, the Wolfpack had trouble hanging with the ninthranked Raptors. Bryleigh Dana had 10 points to pace Park offensively. Emma Ambroz scored seven points, Edie Walton six and Graycie Smith five.
East Ridge went to 8-0 in the conference and 13-3 with the win.
Boys hockey team loses twice in SEC action Host Mounds View took a 6-4 decision from the visiting Park Wolfpack Saturday night in Suburban East Conference hockey.
Mounds View took a 2-0 lead after one period, but Park scored three goals in the second to close to within 4-3. Mounds View then outscored Park 2-1 in the third to earn the win.
Tyler Schwartz put in two goals to lead the Wolfpack. Brendan Bloedel and Gavin Moss each scored once. Two scoring assists went to Jackson Rudh. Owen Corkish, Boston Weidner, Schwartz and Adam Friedmann also had assists.
Park slipped to 3-5 in the SEC and 11-7 overall.
Mounds View improved its record to 4-3-1 and 6-91.
Parks hosts Eagan (4-11) Thursday in a non-conference contest starting at 7:30 p.m.
Roseville 3, Park 1
Host Roseville skated to a 3-1 triumph over visiting Park Thursday in a Suburban East Conference boys hockey game.
Roseville led 1-0 after one and still 1-0 after a scoreless second period.
Park’s Maccoy Wohnoutka tied the game at 1-all at the four minute mark of the third period with assists by Tyler Schwartz and Brendan Bloedel.
But Roseville scored twice more in the period, including an empty net goal at the 16;39 mark, to take the win.
Roseville outshot Park 33-26. Park goalie Aiden Miller was 24 of 26 in the net for a .923 success rate.
