Boys hockey team splits SEC pair
White Bear Lake showed why it’s leading the Suburban East Conference Saturday with a convincing 7-0 victory over the Park Wolfpack in boys hockey at Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period, made it 5-0 after two periods and closed out the game with two goals in the third.
White Bear Lake improved to 6-1 in the SEC and 11-2 on the season.
Park dropped to 3-3 in the conference and 1105 overall. The loss snapped a two-game Wolfpack winning streak.
The Wolfpack outshot the visitors, 33-24, but none of their shots could find the back of the net.
Park skates at Roseville (1-2-1, 9-4-1) Thursday and then at Mounds View (3-2-1, 5-8-1) Saturday.
Park 6, Forest Lake 2
Park skated to its 11th win in 15 games with a convincing 6-2 triumph over visiting Forest Lake Thursday at Cottage Grove Ice arena.
Leading scorer Jackson Rudh powered in a pair of goals to lead the Wolfpack offense, scoring at the 6:42 mark of the first period, then against the 7:10 mark of the third period.
Tyler Schwartz, Owen Corkish, Colton Porter and Adam King all scored a goal each for the Wolfpack.
Corkish added two assists while Wyatt Beaurline, Boston Weidner, Moss, Schwartz and Maccoy Wohnoutka had an assist apiece.
Aiden Miller went the distance in goal, stopping 16 of 18 shots by the Rangers.
Park led1-0 after one and 4-2 after two periods before closing it out with a 2-0 third period.
Girls hockey team splits SEC pair
Suburban East Conference leader Stillwater skated to a 3-0 win over visiting Park in girls hockey Saturday at St. Croix Valley Recreation Center.
Neither team scored until the Ponies out in a trio of goals early in the third period.
Stillwater outshot the Wolfpack 30-13. Park goalie Tori Stepka stopped 27 of 30 shots for a .9900 success rate.
Stillwater upped its season records to 14-4 overall and 12-0 in the conference. Park skidded to 8-9 on the season and 3-7 in the conference.
Park 6, Woodbury 3
Natalie Post and Alaina Post each powered in a pair of goals to help lift Park to a 6-3 win over Woodbury at Health East Sports Center Tuesday.
It was a back-and-forth game. Park scored four goals in the opening period to seemingly take control. The Woodbury rallied with a 3-0 second period.
Park regained control in the third, getting goals from Alaina Post and a final tally by Taylar Nadler on a power play for the win. Nadler also had two assists.
Madison Brinkman scored Park’s other goal. The Wolfpack outshot the Royals 33-18.
Tori Stepka got the win in the net for the Royals, stopping 15 of 18 shots.
Dahlstrom, Jameson lead Park gymnasts at Lakeville North Emily Dahlstrom was 15th in the all-around to lead the Park gymnasts to a 10th-place team finish in the Lakeville North Invitational Saturday.
Stillwater won the 15-star-studded team title with a score of 145.050. The meet featured fie team ranked in the top 10 in either Class A or Class AA.
Second-ranked Owatonna was second in the team race at 144.700 points, Class A No. 4 Detroit Lakes third at 143.650, No. 6 Lakeville South fourth at 142.900, Class A No. 5 Melrose fifth at 141.850 and No. 5 East Ridge sixth at 141.150. No, 14 Park scored a 134.550.
Ashley Davis of the Wolfpack was 23rd in the all-around with a score of 33.950, Rainna Jameson 28th with a score of 33.050 and Clara Opichka was 37th with a 31.900.
Jameson had Park’s top event score of the meet, finishing sixth on the floor with a score of 9.350. Jameson was ninth with a 9.3. Davis scored a 9.050, Opichka an 8.4 and Vanessa Suh an 8.0.
Dahlstrom and Davis each scored 8.9 on the vault, Jameson had an 8.850.
Dahlstrom also led Park on the beam finishing 16th overall with a score of 8.950. Opichka scored a 7.950, Davis a 7.6 and Jameson a 7.5.
Davis led Park on the bars with a score of 8.4. Dahlstrom had an 8.0, Opichka a 7.650 and Jameson a 7.350.
Park 132.1, Cretin-Derham Hall 123.550
Fourteenth ranked Park vaulted to another dual meet victory Thursday, this time defeating visiting Cretin-Derham Hall by a 132.100 to 123.550 score.
Cretin’s Delaney Cunnington won the all-around with a score of 35.200. After that it was all Park as the Wolfpack gymnasts went 2-3-4-5 in the all-around.
Park’s Ashley Davis won both the vault (8.9) and the beam (9.050), while teammate Emily Dahlstrom finished first on the floor with a score of 9.1.
Davis was second in the all-around with a score of 34.050, followed by Dahlstrom (33.900), Rainna Jameson (32.850) and Clara Opichka (31.275).
Jameson was third in the vault (8.750) and Dahlstrom fourth (8.550).
Davis was also second on bars, finishing with a score of 7.950. Jameson was third (7.7), Dahlstrom fourth (7.4) and Opichka fifth (7.3).
Dahlstrom led Park on the balance beam with a second-place finish and a score of 8.850. Jameson was fifth (8.0) Jameson was third on the floor (8.4), Davis fourth (8.150) and Opichka fifth (7.8).
Park came into the meet with an average score of 134.383.
