Wolfpack hockey team roughs up Spring Lake Park Jackson Rudh scored two goals and Park generally had their way with host Spring Lake Park Tuesday in an 8-1 victory Tuesday.
Park led 2-1 after the first period, then blew past Spring Lake Park 5-0 in the decisive second period.
Brayden Leazott and Colton Porter scored Park’s first two goals after an early Spring Lake Park lead.
Gavin Moss, Adam Kind, Rudh, Tyler Schwartz and Owen Corkish each scored for the Wolfpack in the second period as Park took a 7-1 lead. Rudh added his second goal of the game in the third.
In all, the Wolfpack outshot the hosts 47-21.
Moss added three assists to lead the Wolfpack.
Aiden Miller got the win in the net, stopping 19 of 20 attempts.
It was a strong bounce back game for the Wolfpack, who lost a tough one at Cretin-Derham Hall the previous outing.
Park improved to 7-2 on the season. Spring Lake Park fell to 3-4-1, Park is scheduled to play in the Heritage Hockey Classic in Duluth Dec. 27-29. Park teams compete in holiday tournaments Park Wolfpack teams will be covering a wide region this week in various holiday tournaments.
The boys hockey team (7-2) will be competing in the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center tournament Wednesday and Thursday, with a field of Anoka, Apple Valley, Cloquet, Duluth Denfeld, Irondale, Mankato West and Owatonna.
The girls basketball team (2-4) will be playing in the South St. Paul tournament, meeting the host Packers Wednesday starting at 7 p.m., followed by a game against Three Rivers on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Park wrestlers will hit the mats at the 22team strong University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire tournament Thursday.
In a makeup meet from last week, the 13th-ranked Park gymnasts will host White Bear Lake Thursday, starting at 6 p.m.
The Park girls hockey team (6-5) will play in a tournament at New Hope Ice Arena Thursday and Friday. The field includes Anoka, Apple Valley, Cloquet, Duluth Denfeld, Irondale. Mankato West and Owatonna.
