Park senior Parker Hahn finished 21st and ninth grader Gavin Stauffer was 28th to lead the Wolfpack in the Section 3AAA cross country meet Thursday at Apple Valley’s Valleywood Golf Course.
Hahn clocked a time of 16:57.00. Stauffer finished in 17:18.70. Stauffer had the second fastest time of all ninth graders in the race.
Other Park finishers were: Dale Kirsch (36th, 17:39.50), Samuel Larson (50th, 18:11.70), Bronson Stachowiak (54th, 18:23.60), Tyler Krogman (57th, 18:56.20) and Jacob Paulsen (60th, 19:11.90).
“Parker had high hopes of going to the state meet and we thought he had a great shot at it too,” said Park cohead coach Brad Narveson. “He tweaked something in his back right before the race. So unfortunate for him. He ran his best and he competed until the very end but ended up missing out on qualifying for state.
“After the race he told me his back was very sore during the race,” Narveson added. “He would’ve had to PR to make it but the way he had been racing and training I think he had a real shot at it. He’ll be excited for track season. Dale Kirsch had his best time of the season and Sam Larson had a personal best. The boys competed hard and ran well. We’re very proud of all of them.”
Park junior Lydia Best was 42nd (23:24.20) and sophomore Ava Radel 45th (23:40.40) in the girls’ 5,000-meter race.
“It was great to have Lydia back and racing again,” Narveson said. “She had been out for several weeks so to have her back and healthy was great to see. Ava Radel ran her second best time of the season so that was a good way for her to end her season too.”
Rosemount won the boys team race with 50 points. Park was eighth with 189.
Hunter Dunne of Eastview (15:56.70) and Halle Mestery of East Ridge (18:12.20) were the individual winners.

Rosemount (19-10) advanced to the section semifinals, but dropped a 3-0 decision at second-seeded and eighth-ranked East Ridge Thursday.
