Girls tennis
After three straight times of coming close, Park finally got that elusive fourth point in a 4-3 win over East Ridge Thursday.
“This was the first win over East Ridge in girls tennis,” said Taylor. “ Our last three matches against East Ridge prior to Thursday were all 3-4 losses. We finally got that fourth point.”
The match came down to the No. 3 doubles and Park’s team of Jenna Mahnke and Finley Leick pulled out a dramatic 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 victory.
Park’s match Monday against Two Rivers was postponed.
Park vs. East Ridge No. 1 singles – Kate Townsend won 6-0, 6-0.
No. 2 singles – Avrie Morris lost 4-6, 2-6.
No. 3singles – Dana Petrie won 7-5, 4-0 (retired.
No. 4 singles – Grace Townsend lost 2-6, 4-6.
No. 1 doubles – Abby Fjelsta/Hannah Holmgren won 6-2, 6-3.
No. 2 doubles – Morgan Leick/Pasia Pitkanen lost 2-6, 1-6.
No. 3 doubles – Jenna Mahnke/Finley Leick won 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
Cross country
Park senior Parker Hahn finished third in the boys 5,000-meter run at the Osceola High School Invitational Saturday in Osceola, Wis.
Hahn’s finishing time was 17:15.3, a pace of 5:34.
Park’s boys finished fifth in the 16-team race with 163 points.
Ninth-grader Gavin Stauffer was 13th in the boys’ race in 18:03.8. Both Hahn and Staufer were medalists.
Other Park top finishers were: Dale Kirsch, 40th, 19:15.2; Justin Kasa, 50th, 19:29.7; Bronson Stachowiak, 57th, 19:43.4; Eli Firchau, 58th, 19:44.0 and Samuel Larson, 64th, 19:54.7.
“Lots of good performances on a very tough course,” said Park co-head cross country coach Brad Narveson.
Park’s Lydia Best was 33rd in the girls 5,000-meter run in 23.26.9. Ava Radel finished 55th in 24:26.7.
Girls swimming and diving
Swimmers Amber Norgaard and Ellen Jensen had big meets Thursday as the Park swimmers and diving took on host Forest Lake.
Forest Lake edged visiting Park in girls swimming and diving, winning 93.5 to 87.5.
Norgaard won the 200-yardfreestyle in 2:08.44 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:44.65.
Jensen finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.65 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.56.
Jensen and Norgaard also saw legs on Park’s winning 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. Park’s team of Afton LeMay, Jensen, Alayna Faletti and Norgaard won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.68. Park’s team of Jensen, Faletti, Arachi O’Brien and Norgaard also finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:58.42.
Caitlyn Greenwalt of the Wolfpack threw down a big score in 1-meter diving, racking up 257 points to easily win the competition.
LeMay easily won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.27.
Park was third in the 200-medley relay (Zoe Pfeiffer, LeMay, O’Brien, Lilianna Morris) in 2:10.40.
O’Brien was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.30) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.61).
Park competes Thursday at Woodbury, starting at 6 p.m.
