Park softball goes to 5-0 in the SEC

The Park Wolfpack won their fifth straight Suburban East Conference contest Monday, topping host Irondale 6-0.

Park improved to a conference-leading 5-0 and stands 5-1 on the season.

The Wolfpack hosts the road for three games this week, playing at Forest Lake (3-2, 3-2) Wednesday, at East Ridge (1-3, 1-3) Friday and at undefeated Winona (6-0) on Saturday.

Park 2, Forest Lake 1

Stella Fritsche gave up five hits and one run to help the Park softball team defeat second-ranked Forest Lake 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.

After Forest Lake scored in the top of the third, the Wolfpack answered with one of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1. Briana Lee led off with a walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt by Peyton Kaplan that put Lee at second base. Emma Ambroz, who was two for three on the night, then hit a shot up the middle that scored Lee to knot up the score.

Fritsche would continue to baffle the Ranger hitters as she would allow no one else to cross the plate the rest of the night. In the bottom of the sixth, Fritsche did the damage herself by launching a one out double off the left field fence to put the go ahead run 120 feet away. Grace Conaway then came through by singling up the middle that scored pinch runner Keira Brennan to make it a 2-1 Wolfpack lead.

Fritsche had to work out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh to secure the victory as the Wolfpack softball team stayed atop the Suburban East Conference with a 4-0 record.
