Park swimmers drown visiting Bears

Parker Jeseritz and Will Mann each won two individual events as the Park swim and dive team swamped visiting White Bear Lake 72-31 Thursday.

Jeseritz finished first in the 100-yard butterfly in a speedy time of 56.87, then won the 100-yard backstroke in 57.77. He also anchored Park’s two successful relay teams.

“Best event for me tonight, I would like to say the 100 back,” said Jeseritz. “It just was really one of my main events I’ve been doing since ninth grade. I’ve really been trying to step up my game, going for the record on the board – 53.29 is my goal for this season. So I’m really trying to push myself to break that. And then just another event for me is the 100 fly, I’m hoping to go to state with that event if the backstroke doesn’t work out.”

Nate Amidon holds the Park school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.29 set in 1998. It’s the oldest record on the Park board.

Mann won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:144.84 and took first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:54.57.

It was one of the best meets of the season for the improving Wolfpack.

“The harder we’ve practiced, the more we’ve just built our chemistry together,” said Park head coach William Arnsparger. “I think it’s definitely showing and leading to the results in the pool that we want to see. Started at True Team where we were able to place top three, found its way into some really close races at a few of our dual meets like with Woodbury and now at Tartan, placing first and into this meet. We’re definitely riding a lot of momentum right now.”

Park led off the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Jeseritz, Paul Wallace, Damion Charpentier and Luke Dockendorf in a time of 1:51.25.

Charpentier finished first in the 200-yard IM in 2:18.02 and was second in the butterfly (1:01.61).

Ethan Cole finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.87) and Dockendorf was second (25.04). Cole was second in the backstroke (1:03.61).

“I was happiest with the 50 free,” added Cole. “I went 23.87 and my PR from last year was a 25. So I’m hoping I can get, next year, the record would be really nice.”

Park standout Mitchell LeMay holds the Park record in the 50 with a time of 21.74 set in 2023.

“Parker Jeseritz, who’s been our leader, has been our anchor, has been our captain, has set the tone in the pool and out and a lot of us are just following his lead, I would say myself included,” said Arnsparger. “Being a young coach it’s nice to rely on that type of an athlete, that type of a young man. I would also say again, Ethan Cole, whose kind of silent, a little bit on the quiet side, but his swimming speaks volumes because he’s just been improving a ton. He’s bought into the mission and I think he’s starting to gain a lot of confidence himself.”

Hayden Bonner won the 100-yard freestyle in 59.12 and Alex Baraibar was second in 59.27 in Thursday’s meet. Wallace clocked a time of 1:11.28 in the breaststroke.

Parker Steuber was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.10 and Gage Davis third in 2:19.44. Tyler Cracauer was second in the 200-yard IM (2:22.77) and third in the backstroke (1:07.16). Steuber was also second in the 500 freestyle (6:05.95).

Ethyn Schilling took second in diving with 208.85 points and Carter Darling was third with 196.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Baraibar, Cracauer, Bonner and Wallace finished second in 1:48.48. Park’s 400-yard freestyle team of Dockendorf, Cole, Charpentier and Jeseritz finished in 3:41.99.

Park competes at Edgewood Middle School Thursday against Irondale, with a 6 p.m. start, then hosts Forest Lake Tuesday at Cottage Grove Middle School.
