Park got a good win over the Rosemount in the first match Friday but couldn’t quite handle the 10thranekd Forest Lake Rangers in the finale Friday evening.
The Wolfpack bounced Rosemount 47-28 in the first of three dual matches, then dropped a 42-25 decision to Forest Lake.
Park head coach Jim LaBrosse said he was happiest with the team win over Rosemount.
“Our team,” LaBrosse said when asked who he was happy with after the two duals. “We lost to Rosemount last year, one we thought we let slip so it was good to get that one done today. They’ve been doing very well. They beat Eastview last night in Eagan so they’ve been having a great year, and they took third this weekend at Canon Falls so it was really nice to get that win. They wrestled really well, 48-27, pretty proud of that.”
Landen Brooks (113), Zack Carr (120), Gunnar Mullen (145), Dylan Richardson (170), Samuel Lankow (182) and Alex Carr (195) all picked up wins for Park against Forest Lake. Park and Forest Lake each won six matches, but the Wolfpack had forfeits at 106 and 138.
“Tonight we thought we had a shot at Forest Lake,” LaBrosse said. “We lost a close one at 152 and was hoping to come down to heavy but the boys are getting better and that’s what it’s all about.”
Forest Lake ripped Rosemount 53-15 in the other dual meet.
Fourth-ranked sophomore Gunnar Mullen at 145 pounds won a 6-0 decision over Forest Lake’s Jackson Marr.
“Gunnar Mullen again continues to lead the team, he’s doing really well,” said LaBrosse. “Zack Carr continues to do better. They’re all getting better. It’s not just one or two kids. We’ve got a lot of guys in the room working hard and that’s what it’s all about right now.
“The guys are getting some confidence and they’re helping each other and working harder, so that’s where we need to be,” LaBrosse concluded.
Park senior and sixthranked Alex Carr pinned Trystian Miller of the Rangers in 2:32. Zack Carr also won by a fall, topping Cullen Christenson in 1:25.
