Woodbury and Prior Lake – both ranked just outside of the top 12 wrestling teams in The Guillotine’s Class AAA High School top team rankings – both had their way with visiting Park in a three-team meet Thursday, Jan. 28.

Park fell to Prior Lake 61 to 12 in the first match, then dropped a 63-15 decision to host Woodbury in the second match.

Park’s Zach Silvis, ranked sixth at 120 pounds in Class AAA and Gunner Mullen of the Wolfpack, ninth ranked at 106 pounds, both gained a pair of victories Thursday.

Mullen had one of the fastest pins of the night wrestling against Woodbury, scoring a fall in just 17 seconds.

Silvis’s match took only little longer as he put Woodbury’s Gavin Wilson on his back just 57 seconds into the match. Silvis had four straight takedowns in the first period before pinning his foe.

Wrestling at 120 pounds, JJ Bachtle also won for Park, scoring a 15-8 victory over Woodbury’s Kaiden Kirby. Bachtle had six takedowns in the win.

Park gave up four forfeits and five falls to the Royals.

Against Prior Lake, Mullen earned another pin and Silvis a forfeit victory.

In earlier meets, Park dropped a 64-14 decision at Mounds View Jan. 21. Park’s Mullen pinned Zytavius Williams of Mounds View in two minutes at 106 and Silvis scored a 20-5 technical fall over Carter Whalen at 126.

Park lost to St. Thomas Academy 52-27 on Jan. 16. Scoring wins for Park were Mullen at 106, JJ Bachtle at 113, Silvis at 120, Colton Zwiefel at 126, Dylan Wiebusch at 132 and Miles Miller at 138. Mullen, Silvis and Wiebusch had pins for the Wolfpack. Ten of 14 matches were decided by falls and two by forfeits.

The Wolfpack opened the season with a 55-24 loss at South St. Paul on Jan. 14. Earning victories for the Wolfpack were: Mullen at 106, Bachtle at 113, Silvis at 126 and Jean Marin Melendez at 220. Mullen and Silvis won by falls, Bachtle and Marin Melendez by forfeits.

Park returns home for a meet against No. 10 Anoka and Eagan Thursday, Feb. 4, starting at 5 p.m.
