“Hello, my name is Pat Driscoll and I’m running for school board in 833,” the last and final candidate for South Washington County Schools introduced herself at www. swctc.org. Bom and raised in St. Paul, Driscoll made her career plan to be a teacher in second grade, sharing a story where she tried playing school with her sister and a friend, before saying that they could go out for recess, in response to complaints.
“That was a big mistake, because they never came back,” Driscoll shared of one of her first lessons in teaching. “It was also a lesson in being a good teacher.” Retiring in 2015 and moving to Cottage Grove, Driscoll cites her long experience with education as giving her an edge in knowing what matters.
“The most important factor in the classroom is having a good teacher,” Driscoll said as she seeks resident’s votes November 2.
For those readers in ISD 200, meanwhile, there are six current candidates for three open seats.
