Former Park High basketball star Pharrel Payne’s season ended with his team’s tough loss to 91-79 Michigan Saturday in the second round of the NCAA tournament, but Payne had a spectacular game.
Now a junior at Texas A&M, Payne had a career high of 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting, went 6-of-9 from the free-throw line and grabbed five rebounds.
In an 80-71 win over Yale in the first round of the tournament, Payne scored 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
Texas A&M finished the season 23-11.
