Pearson’s double leads Park as track season opens

Park junior Kroix Pearson won both the 200- and 400-meter runs to highlight Park’s efforts in the first track and field meet of the season at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Friday.

Peterson won the 200 in a time of 24.01 and finished first in the 400 in 53.91.

Park junior Henry Joa captured the 1,600-meters crown in a time of 4:34.55.

O’Neal Attisso also had a big day with two second place and one sixth-place finish in the jumps.

On the girls' side, Park’s Malya Ramirez won the 400 in 1:04.08 and Pajyeeb King finished first in the shot put with a throw of 32-5.

Park’s boys were third in the team race while the Park girls finished fourth.

Bloomington Kennedy won the boys team race with 111.5 points, followed by: 2, Somerset 80.5, 3, Park 74. 4, Hudson 69. 5, River Falls 58. 6, Saint Croix Central 48 and 7, St. Croix Preparatory Academy 20.

Kennedy’s girls also finished first with 118 points, followed by: 2, Hudson 114. 3, Somerset 85. 4, Park 76. 5, Saint Croix Central, 38.5. 6, River Falls 23. 7, St. Croix Preparatory Academy 18.5 and 8, Loyal-Greenwood 14.

Boys results

Dylan Davis was second in the 400 (56.26) and Dominic Kamau 18th *1:12.49). Kamau was also 10th in the 60-meter hurdles (11.76).

Park junior O’Neal Attisso finished second in the high jump, clearing 6-2. Ricardo Santos was fourth at 5-5. Daniel Boesch was third in the long jump (19-1), Attisso sixth (18-7.25) and Jayveon Wade eighth (18-5.25). Attisso was also second in the triple jump at 39-1.5 and Santos fifth at 37-0.75.

Olumide Aluko was 11th in the 60 (7.62). Jayveon Wade was 10th in the 200 (24.91), Dylan Davis 17th (25.42) and Adebare Goodness 35th (27.41). Goodness was 12th in the hurdles (12.30). Liam Fleming was eight in the 1,600 (5:23.41).

Leam Hieserich took 12th in the shot put (33-7), Carson Fritsche was 18th (32-0), and Van Kassabian 21st (31-5).

Girls results

Elizabeth Kamande was fifth in the 60-meter dash (8.44), Paige Samuel ninth (8.62), Lillie Finstad 13th (8.80) and Mallorie Yang 20th (9.05). Finstad was sixth in the 200 (30.36), Leilani Barcenas ninth (30.57), Vivian Abla 11th (30.76), Lauryn Forkrud 13th (30.79) and Kylie Bender 16th (31.40). Grace Sahli was fifth in the 400 (1:10.97) and Paige Samuel seventh (1:13.32).

Esme Edlund was second on the 800 in 2:29.61 and Alexandra Cuellar eighth in 3:10.84. Jana Hafiz finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:14.22 and Allison Devine was seventh in 6:34.34. Marissa Korth placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 12.14.

Marlina Patrick was seventh in the shot put (25-4) and Elinor Boche ninth (23-0). Sahli finished third in the high jump and Hailey Garcia was eighth, both clearing 4-0. Abigail Schmitzer took third in the long jump (14-0), Audrey Finley was sixth (12-9.5) and Aguru Omot 14th (10-9.75). In the triple jump, Schmitzer was sixth (28-11.25) and Edlund seventh (26-7).

Both Park teams will compete in the Knights Under the Lights meet at Irondale Friday, with a 4 p.m. start.
