At approximately 7:07 p.m. July 29, Cottage Grove Public Safety Department was dispatched to a report of structure fire at 6086 Summit Curve in Cottage Grove with reports of visible flames.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire involvement in the attached garage that had spread to the home. Due to heavy fire involvement, the fire required a second alarm which included fire departments from Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury, Lake Elmo, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, South Metro Fire Department, Oakdale, M Health EMS and Xcel Energy.
Firefighters had control of the fire at approximately 8:15 p.m. No injuries of civilians and the homeowners were safely out of the house. The extreme heat made conditions even more dangerous for responders.
One firefighter was evaluated by EMS at the scene for a medical issue but was not transported.
The cause of fire is under investigation and crews will be on scene for hours. No additional information is available this evening. An update will be provided after the investigation.
