Top-seeded and second ranked Rosemount Irish did the expected Friday night and ended the season for the eighth-seeded Park Wolfpack.
The Irish rolled up 435 total yards, mostly on the ground, with 396 yards and six rushing touchdowns scored against the Wolfpack in a 56-14 win.
Park ends the 2025 season with a 1-8 record, while Rosemount (8-1) advances to the Class 6A second round.
The first quarter was brutal for the Wolfpack as the Irish scored five touchdowns, including a 64-yard run, a 32-yard pass play and a 30-yard interception return to take a 35-0 lead.
The second quarter wasn’t much better as Rosemount punched in three rushing touchdowns for a 56-0 advantage at the half.
Park eventually scored a pair of touchdowns on long runs by senior running backs Kody Aikens in the third quarter and Keon Moody in the fourth.
Aikens closed his Park career with a solid night, rushing 15 times for 111 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown run the third. Moody ran 7 times for 88 yards and scored on a 53-yard scamper in the fourth.
Unlike the success it had in the last game against Eastview, Park’s passing attack was held in check Friday. Junior quarterback Esten Erickson completed 9 of 17 passes for just 54 yards and was intercepted twice. Wilson Weber was the leading receiver for Park Friday, with two catches for 21 yards. Moody caught two passes for 18 yards.
Defensively, lineman Robert Schmitzer led the Wolfpack with six tackles and six assists. Sophomore linebacker Ricky Santos Jr. had four solo stops and four assists. Jesse Wright had one tackle, five assists and one tackle for loss. Mitchell Dimock had one solo tackle, five assists and a fumble recovery.
Park’s 2025 season will go down as one in which injuries to talented starters totally skewed the season. Running back Moody, quarterback Erickson, defensive back Zack Carr, lineman Jairus Boston and linebacker Aidan Boche among numerous others, all missed most of many games for the wolfpack. With just Moody and Erickson back in the lineup, the Wolfpack showed the team they could have been against Eastview in the final regular season game.
Park loses two dozen seniors off this year’s team, most of them starters, and several who were injured for several games, including Kody Aikens and Keon Moody, Zack Carr, Aidan Boche, Jairus Boston, Robert Schmitzer, Matthew Kamande, Jesse Wright, Gheritt Museus, Lance Hayes, EJ Lange Jr., and Tanner Zitzow. So, the Wolfpack will have some serious rebuilding and retooling to do next season.
As might have been expected, it was a brutal day for Metro Maroon teams. Eastview dropped a 56-7 game to top-ranked Maple Grove, Park fell at No. 2 Rosemount 56-14, Hopkins lost to No. 3 Centennial 48-12, Roseville lost to No. 6 Champlin Park 28-0, and Coon Rapids fell to No. 8 Forest Lake 57-7.
