The Washington County Historical Society is excited to announce a new, one-of-a-kind entertainment for Halloween 2025.
Shadows of Stillwater is live, interactive, immersive theater in the form of a 50-minute walking tour. It takes place entirely inside the Washington County Heritage Center and is produced like a play, with lights, sound, period costumes, and special effects.
As the experience begins, a tour guide leads your group through curtains in a partition, and you find yourself in another world. A long hallway full of fog. Swirling light. Eerie sounds. A strange figure appears, dressed all in black. This is the Gravedigger, the first ghost you will meet. The Gravedigger speaks. You laugh.
The script (written by an experienced playwright) mixes history with comedy. There’s nothing truly scary in it. If you want to try something different for Halloween this year, Shadows of Stillwater is your best bet! Recommended for ages 10 and up, Shadows of Stillwater will take place at the Washington County Heritage Center at 1862 Greeley Street South in Stillwater.
Event dates for Shadows of Stillwater are Oct. 23, Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 30, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1. Tours leave every 25 minutes from 6:45 - 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and should be purchased in advance, with online sale locations at bit.ly/47ybR1T and https://www.wchsmn.org/shadows-of-stillwater-a-halloween-experience.
