St Paul Park City Administrator resigns

Posted

St. Paul Park will soon have a new city administrator. City Administrator Kevin Walsh, approved as city administrator in February 2006, has been with the city for almost two decades. He put in his resignation at the April 7 council meeting.
Contained in the consent agenda and approved in turn, Walsh laid things out in his resignation letter to the council, contained in the meeting packet.
“Honorable Mayor and City Council Members:
I wanted you all to know that I will be resigning from the position of City Administrator.
It has been an honor to serve the various mayors, council members and residents of St. Paul Park. They have only increased my respect for this community. Mayor Franke and I have worked well together and I know he will continue to provide valuable leadership for this organization.
I will have been employed with the City of St. Paul Park for over 17 years. I believe we have accomplished many positive things in those years. I also feel that someone else with a new vision should have the opportunity to continue to move the community forward.
Within the last few days, the Personnel Committee met and has made a recommendation for a recruiting search firm pending approval by the city council. My final day with the city will be July 31st although I have agreed to make myself available if needed to help facilitate the transition. The timing of my announcement was made to have the least possible disruption to city operations.
I have been impressed by the dedication and drive of city staff. Day after day, without much recognition, they continue to provide high-quality services to the residents, local business owners and visitors. While challenges exist, I know the right people are in place to lead this organization.
Sincerely, Kevin Walsh
The resignation becomes effective July 31.
