St. Paul Park falls to Totino Grace in Legion ball

Host Totino Grace had too much hitting and knocked out a visiting St. Paul Park team in American Legion baseball play Monday in Fridley.

The host Eagles won 14-8 in six and a half innings, scoring two runs in every inning except the second.

“(There was a) lack of aggressiveness, lack of having fun,” said Park team manager Matt Doornink. “They had more hits (than the Eagles) but did a lot of things defensively that didn’t help us, trying to win every game on each single play instead of taking it as a whole.”

Park’s Brady Strand socked a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Park has a full slate of games this week, playing five games in seven days. The team is at Rosemount Wednesday, at Farmington Thursday and at Northfield Saturday. Park then has a rare home game against rival East Ridge on Monday, starting at 5 p.m.
