St. Paul Park put out statement on ambulance service

The City of St. Paul Park put out a statement recently amidst news of a potential change in the primary service area (PSA) for ambulance services.
“Recently the City of St Paul Park became aware that a potential change in the primary service area (PSA) designation for ambulance service delivery in St Paul Park is pending Cottage Grove City Council action and state approval in August,” it said. “SPP staff have worked closely with our current ambulance service to provide excellent pre transport healthcare and will continue to do so with a new service provider if that becomes reality. City staff remain committed to caring for our community member needs and have prepared for a potential change in emergency healthcare service delivery. Our police officers are certified Emergency Medical Responders, and both our police and fire staff will start coursework for Emergency Medical Technician certification soon- this is considered basic life support (BLS) which is the minimum standard for many ambulance services statewide.
“Residents in a healthcare emergency should still call 911 and a police officer as well as ambulance will respond to address the health emergency as needed. The City has a robust plan for engagement with the new PSA provider should the Cottage Grove City Council move to retract a portion of its existing PSA that currently includes St Paul Park.”
