Strawberry Fest 5K draws record numbers

A record number of participants, 187 in all, ran, jogged, walked and pushed strollers in the 2026 Strawberry Fest 5K Run and Walk Saturday at Kingston Park.

The 5K was open as usual to all runners, walkers and “on a leash”.

Jeremy Peters, 39, was the overall top finisher, coming in with a time of 17:56.32.

17-year-old Kyra Dix as the top woman runner, and fourth overall, crossing the finishing line in 20:05.73.

Three 13-year-olds finished back-to-back-to-back, Marshall Bowe (13th, 22:19.60), Evan Sundeen (14th, 22:19.60) and Luka Houareau (15th, 22:35.43).

Claudia Assell, 73, was the oldest finisher, coming in 121st with a time of 39:41.95.

All participants received a carton of fresh strawberries upon completion.

The kids one mile took place later Saturday morning across the way from the 5k near the Kingston Park playgrounds. Dozens of young runners, alone or with a parent’s help, navigated the four laps around four corners on he mile course. Runners each received a medal and a bottle of strawberry milk ag the end of the race.
