Welcome to issue three of the new Cottage Grove Journal.

We hope you like it.We’re working hard to bring a hometown newspaper back the community. Sure, we’ll admit it’s a work in progress. We’re learning a lot about the community, and the community is getting to know us.

We’re excited to learn about the talented folks who have stepped forward to help us get the work done here. We’re a small, family- owned publishing company, and our brand is that we try to provide the best hometown newspaper possible.

During the midst of a pandemic perhaps isn’t the “prime time” to really get to know a community, so we do appreciate all of you who have reached out in the last couple weeks.

We’re committed to Cottage Grove, so please let us know how we can help.

We’ve appreciated the welcome we’ve received, and we appreciate the fact that judging by our volume of new subscriptions, Cottage Grove does appreciate the fact that the local news business isn’t dead.

As we’ve said for three weeks now, we’re a success if you read this and decide you want to do that for 52 weeks of the year. We want to earn your subscription, and we make it easy on you: A one-year subscription to the Cottage Grove Journal costs just $30, and two years is just $50.

Please help us spread the word. We’re doing our best too. As of this week, we’re going to start “rolling” through Cottage Grove postal routes and direct-mailing sample editions of our new newspaper. Let your neighbors know to be on the lookout! Thank you Cottage Grove

As for our newsstand readers, we’re free this week still. As of our first November edition, the Cottage Grove Journal will be just $1.

Again, thank you Cottage Grove for rolling out the welcome mat. And please reach out and let us know what you want to see in your hometown newspaper! John McLoone Paperboy and Publisher [email protected]
