The Cottage Grove Journal is officially late getting on press today, and it’s your fault! We’ve been working the phones on deadline today signing up new subscribers to your new hometown newspaper. Fear not Cottage Grove! We’ll get on press today. And thank you for calling. We’ve received many calls thanking The Journal for answering the call and daring to dive in headfirst and committing to publishing a hometown newspaper in Cottage Grove. We’re excited to do so, and we’re more excited after the community’s response. We dropped off our first Cottage Grove Journal in stores on Wednesday. Our first call came in that afternoon. We had calls throughout the weekend, and we’re excited to pick up our mail to see our new friends in the community. We’ve had people subscribe for family and one for a friend. We all need friends like that, don’t we? Cottage Grove: We thank you for rolling out the welcome mat for us. We’re humbled by the community support. We know that this is the so-called digital age. Your last newspaper died because of that. We know the role of a community newspaper, and we’re going to do our best to serve this community. Our pledge is simple: We’re here to help! We know if the community succeeds, its hometown newspaper
succeeds. Thanks so much, Cottage Grove! And keep on calling!
Sincerely, John McLoone Paperboy and Publisher,
The Journal
