Founded in 2006 by Ramona Westerberg, The Healing Place of Cottage Grove was initially established inside her home in Old Cottage Grove, built on determination, vision, and a deep commitment to helping others feel their best. Westerberg is a graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University, where she received her professional training in massage therapy.
From the beginning, Westerberg’s goal extended beyond solo practice.
“I always knew I wanted to build a team of caring practitioners,” says Westerberg. “I wanted to create a place where skilled therapists could work together in a supportive environment and truly make a difference in people’s lives.”
As the client base expanded through word-of-mouth referrals and strong community relationships, the business outgrew its home setting. The Healing Place later moved into its commercial location at 8617 West Point Douglas Road in Cottage Grove, marking a major milestone in its growth and long-term vision.
Over the years, the practice steadily evolved from a single massage table into a collaborative team of seven licensed therapists, each bringing unique strengths and specialties. Services now include Deep Tissue Massage, Relaxation Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, and Motor Vehicle Accident Massage, among others. Each treatment is customized to meet the individual needs of clients seeking pain relief, stress reduction, injury recovery, or ongoing wellness support.

One of the greatest challenges in the company’s history came during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 and the years that followed. Like many small businesses, The Healing Place faced temporary closures, operational restrictions, and uncertainty. Through resilience, strict safety protocols, and loyal community support, the practice successfully navigated that difficult period.
“The pandemic tested all of us,” Westerberg reflects. “But it also reinforced how important health, wellness, and community truly are. We are incredibly grateful for the clients who stood by us.”
Today, The Healing Place of Cottage Grove stands as a testament to thoughtful growth, perseverance, and a strong commitment to quality care. Twenty years later, the original mission remains unchanged: to foster a team of compassionate practitioners dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of the Cottage Grove community.
