While most kids have been perfecting their shots or winning matches on the mats this winter, Sully Poehler, Owen-Withee High School student, has been spending his evenings in the weight room. On Saturday, February 8, Sully made the trek to Elk Mound to compete in powerlifting. In powerlifting, competitors have three lifts, a deadlift, a squat, and a bench. Sully, the Payloader, moved serious weight as he started the day by taking second in the deadlift. He then moved the most weight on the bench and tied in squats. Overall, Sully took second in his weight class, lifting a total of 1,165 pounds, qualifying him for the state tournament. Be sure to support Sully as he lifts on March 9.
